Explain the collision and hiccups, then All I did was mention that those were updated, not that they were the fault here...
i do not collide, i share my finding too...share is care...we say in UK...
at the end of the day nxdoman could be very likely to an DNS servers outrage fun stuff not related to DDWRT at all......
So, if the bloke has an issues with SmartDNS and I did have some issues since the last few updates...He has to monitor those, as im not using SmartDNS...any more...no hiccups with Stubby so far..
Either custard (TV in cockney) is broken or the broadcast company has an issues...
As far as, layer 7 and layer 3 DNS..im sure about it and it makes a sense...too... they both can co-exist and do not interfere...
I used/use various models to compare...DNScrypt, Stubby, SmartDNS...just haven't seen browser with DoT...as most of those use DoH...
no hard feelings, no offence at all...remember, 'sharing is caring'

Do you have Ignore WAN DNS Enabled ?
If so do you have a nameserver in /tmp/resolv.conf
if you see his config he is using
no-resolv
server=127.0.0.1#6053
so, ignore WAN DNS is done on DNSmasq level _________________ Atheros

This is an international forum, if from your lion's lair you try to provide some lump of ice you'll find most others are just scotch mist at you... So get your head out of your bottle and glass. right?
I wouldn't tell that to anyone, nor ill comment it... as it's well below my class...and its not nice...

are you using smartdns by enabling in the gui or cli?
i tested an earlier version of smartdns when i enabled via gui it would create a persistent cache file. when i started via script it didn't create it.
if your question was addressed to me

i also have some NXdomains using stubby and SmartDNS via jffs config...to be precise
i used it via jffs (CLI) only, GUI must be turned off...never tried GUI option...and hmmm i haven't checked it...but as it's working, persistent cache must be at the jffs or tmp need to have a look... _________________ Atheros

@Alozaros thank you for the tips about blahdns. I picked it because it should be way more private than Quand9. I don't trust those guys very much.
Anyways, since you and @kernel-panic69 seem to be running SmartDNS via CLI, are you experiencing any crashes?
Sometimes (maybe once a day) my SmartDNS crashes and I've to SSH into the router and start it again. I still don't have any logs on this. _________________ 1x Netgear R7800 (latest); 3x Netgear R7000 (latest); 2x Asus RT-N16 (v3.0-r47656); 2x Fonera 2100 (v3.0-r45454).

GUI install over r47479

all good
Before I forget all this; last week, I updated these with the 47481 build:
-R6300v1 (mips: .bin)
-N66U 'K3X' ('big' on CFE 1.0.1.9) *2
-EA6900v1.1 *2 (CFE 1.2.0.1 mac+2/+4)
One EA6900 was on FreshTomato with CFE 1.2.0.1, and the other latest OEM. I then flashed the former to try CFE 1.3.0.7 (and use the 'new style' mac setup (+2/+4), but found it broke overclocking (been running at 1000,666 for years); verified by cpuinfo since dmesg doesn't report the CPU init. Then I rolled the OEM f/w back to 161129 and was able to flash directly to this build from the CFE miniweb server. I put 1.2.0.1 on it to verify/test OC, then rolled the other back to 1.2.0.1 too. Fwiw, 1.3.0.7 allows using XWRT's (via AsusWRT-Merlin) AI Mesh feature, along with fixing the GUI port numbering and case lights. I saw no difference in case lighting b/t the CFE versions.
Did the same cooling mods to the 'new' one too (got it several months ago for $5 at goodwill). Just replacing the cooling pad (with a really good one...also wet-sanded the heatsink a bit) dropped the open-air temp by 15C. Not much help though without adding some cooling holes onto the top.
Oh, I also tested the USB ports and they both work fine. USB2 port loads ehci_hcd and USB3 loads xhci_hcd. Set up a share on USB3 and worked a-ok.
So @egc that answers the question in your install thread. _________________ #NAT/SFE/CTF: limited speed w/ DD#Repeater issues#DD-WRT info: FAQ, Builds, Types, Modes, Changes, Demo#

Upcoming in-depth write-up for Northstar Netgear R-series and Linksys EA-series using 1.3.0.7 CFE. Whether or not it gets shared on here, no idea. Too many ingrates. But at least the donations bin got full quick for this project. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"
