I have a Linksys EA6350v2 and I want to flash dd-wrt onto it however after reading up on it, I am a bit confused and need some help.
On the 6350's support thread, I found two methods. Hell, both are visible on the same link.
The link directs to a serial method for flashing the device. This method is also listed as required on the EA6300's wiki page for my device. However if you scroll down, it seems like flashing with the built in firmware update tool also works.
Are there any reasons to flash over serial? This Reddit post says that serial might be necessary to make the flash persistent, however I am not sure if that is true or not.
I used to have a brand new EA6350v2, and I had to flash via serial port to make ddwrt persistent https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1120613#1120613
Other than the difficulties in initial flashing/subsequence upgrading (always had to flash 2 times via serial port), I also encountered intermittent internet connection. However, that was in 2018. It may be different now. Just try with the normal web flash as suggested by egc first, it may work for you.
But my EA6350v2 suddenly died one day during normal operation (not during flashing, not during applying settings, just no output on serial port when powered on subsequently), and I lost my trust/interest in Linksys (Belkin?) since then.
