Hi guys, I've recently tried to flash latest 04/24th build on my XR700 throught WEB GUI, using FACTORY to DDWRT .IMG
The result was a router that freezed after few minutes since boot. Any hints? I've reverted to Netgear firmware via TFTP (it was odd but every settings were still present).

Before update to DDWRT, while on stock firmware, erase the settings, revert to default, reset...what ever you call it...
Than try to update via TFTP or try an older Factory to DDWRT file, if it works, than try to update to a newer..build...
After the update, reset settings and carry on with manual set up.... _________________ Atheros

try an older xr700 build, look at the size, try and find the smallest one, you may find you have bad blocks.
when flashing via browser don't use chromium based browsers. _________________ Netgear R7800 PPPoE Main Router

no luck guys, I've tried (TFTP flash) different builds so far but every images I've tried have endend with making router not reachable after few seconds since password changing. Is there any build that has been proved WORKING on XR700 I could try?

if its not working you may have a bad blocks, as foz111 said.. _________________ Atheros

hmm for this problem,im not aware of any...solutions ...
If i remember correctly BS, the main developer was trying to implement a solution, for firmware to mark and not use those bad blocks during flashing, but ive no idea if that was fully implemented..and how it works at the moment...
best bet is to ask for replacement xr700 unit if you have a warranty...
To my understanding DUMA OS suppose to be decent too, sadly it will be missing the good futures that DDWRT has.. _________________ Atheros

the manufacturer of the “raw NAND flash” has to guarantee that certain erase blocks are error-free:
namely the one(s) which the bootloader is to be written to
but also the ones which the Linux kernel and the SquashFS are to be written to, because the firmware image file is generated on some desktop computer, that cannot know which erase blocks of the “raw NAND flash” of the device are bad.
Netgear will make sure their CFE and firmware fits in the section with no bad blocks
DDWRT is often larger and that is were the trouble begins, I think.
Maybe if you could update with DDWRT with a small build then it might work?
Builds have grown in size so maybe an earlier smaller build can work?
When upgrading the ubifs can take bad blocks into account and it will work
or have a huge homework to find a smaller, if im not wrong ive seen 37 ish builds
its a lot of searching if so..as i lost witch on was it... _________________ Atheros

On thing to note is how you are flashing via webUI from stock. I think this may be a matter of a non-issue and misinterpretation due to bad flashing procedure. I see a lot of people flashing (with Chrome or Chromium-based browsers) while 1) connected to the internet; 2) while surfing the internet with the same browser; and 3)not flashing in private or incognito mode with all extensions and add-ons disabled. I have had the best luck with Firefox ESR / FF ESR Portable and Pale Moon / Pale Moon Portable - sometimes 32-bit seems to be more reliable on both. TFTP flashing should not matter, however, I have had the best luck with tftpd32 v 4.52 (32-bit) portable with anticipation window set to 1024. Just wanted to share this because this seems like the kind of things that are completely not understood or misunderstood by way too many people - likely due to all of the online videos and how-to's, some of which are complete garbage. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"
