Hi,
I have been using an older (2014) version of DD-WRT and recently upgraded to dd-wrt Kong built V3.
Since the upgrade, I have been experiencing issues with 2.4ghz.
- Many of devices cannot see it
- Some devices can see it, but it eventually disappears
5ghz is working very well but many of legacy devices require 2.4ghz spectrum I have an issue.
My settings are as follows:
Wireless Mode: AP
Network Mode: Mixed
Channel:Auto
Wireless Channel: Wide HT40 (40 MHz)
Extension Channel: Upper
Wireless SSID: Enables
TurboQAM: Enabled
Explicit Beamform: Enabled
Implicit: Enabled
Wireless security:
Mode: WPA2 Personal
WPA Algorithm: AES
I tried to fiddle with the settings, reset the device and upgraded the dd-wrt to newest firmware but still having issues.

I'm having the same exact issue as pred02, I tried the "erase nvram && reboot", setup from scratch and everything but devices cannot see the 2.4ghz network and if they do see it, it disappears in a few moments.
I'm currently on build 34411. Any help would be appreciated.

You did not state you router, but the usual applies to all.
Use default setting, do not use auto channel but search for a "free" channel with Wifi Analyzer or simiar app on your phone.
USe N/g mixed or N-Only
Use 20 MHz channel width
Security WPA2/AES
Regulatory domain: United States
There have been issues with Chromecast and Firesticks flooding the network disable that if you have
There are issues with USB3 appliances in the vicinity or attached to the router, disable that

If that does not help try another build and always erase nvram and setup manually
I have the Netgear R7000, I do not have Chromecast or a Firestick, I use Singapore as my regulatory domain as it gives me access to channels up to 13 (they are allowed in my country). There are no USB3 appliances in the vicinity or connected to the router.
I just downgraded to DD-WRT v3.0-r34311 (12/29/17) but I'm still having the exact same issue and I did the erase nvram command on this as well and set it up manually.

Any other things I could try.
Only "100%" tested Reg domains are US, Europe and Germany. Try with any of those and see if it works, if they do see 2.4 then you might have to deal with it as it is. _________________ R6400v2 (boardID:30) - Kong 36480 running since 03/09/18 - (AP - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R7800 - BS 31924 running since 05/26/17 - (AP - OpenVPN Client - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R7000 - BS 30771 running since 12/16/16 - (AP - NAS - FTP - SMB - OpenVPN Server - Transmission - DDNS - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R6250 - BS 29193 running since 03/20/16 - (AP - NAS - FTP - SMB - DNSMasq - AdBlocking)

I've tried all 3 regulatory domains mentioned, the problem occurs across all of them. The 2.4ghz network does not work. Now what
Sorry to bump up the old topic but just wanted to share below info since this is one of the top threads in google search.
I faced similar issue today where my archer c9 v1 stopped broadcasting 2.4 ghz network OR even if 2.4 ghz network was present, no device was able to connect to it. Turns out that it was happening because i had connected a 2 TB WD usb disk to my router's usb port. Since this disk pulls considerable amount of power, it seems router was running out of juice. After fiddling with it for nearly an hour, i disconnected USB and voila, 2.4 ghz started working. I am even able to reproduce this by connecting usb again.
After using dedicated usb cable for power on my 2TB drive, i haven't seen this issue happen again.
I just installed and couldn't get anything to connect to the 2.4 wlan until I changed the to Wide HT40.
I was getting incorrect password from WPA2, but I removed security to test and still couldn't connect. After moving to Wide Channel Width I was able to connect and then I re-applied the security and it worked.

Hello guys,
I have the exact same issue with my Netgear R8000 and the latest firmware from Dec 3rd 2019 build 41659.
5Ghz works fine on both interfaces. Only the 2.4Ghz disconnects clients after some time and trying to reconnect results in error messages like "couldn't obtain IP address" or the most common "Couldn't authenticate".
Even after erasing the NVRAM and rebooting, the issue still exists. Only after setting it to wide HT40 it started working again. Let's see for how long.

Welcome to the forum.
This is a known problem please note point 9 and 10.
The problem is (hopefully) solved in build 41663
Below some pointers which might help to get the best out of DDWRT and out of the forum:
1. Research your router, start with the supported devices wiki:
https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices .
2. In the supported devices wiki you can see if your router is supported and what architecture your router has and if you are lucky also an install guide/wiki.
3. Post in the right forum, from the former step you can see if your router is Broadcom, Qualcomm/Atheros, Marvell or other, use that forum to post router specific questions, for networking questions post in the Advanced Networking forum and for other things in the General Questions forum.
4. When posting always state router model, build number and when applicable the Kernel version.
Describe your problem and how you think it can be solved.
Give as much detail as you can also provide your network setup if applicable.
For your Network setup, state what wiki you have used: https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linking_Routers
5. When posting pictures make sure the maximum width is not more than 600 pixels.
6. Do not hijack a thread, meaning do not post your own problem in someone else's thread. Just start your own thread.
7. If your post is answered and your problem solved, mark your thread with [SOLVED] (the header of your first post).
8. Do NOT use the router database, builds can be found at:
https://dd-wrt.com/support/other-downloads/?path=betas%2F2019%2F
All builds are beta including those from the router database.
9. Before uploading a new build to your router, research the build by looking in the build threads.
This is an example of a build thread for build 41328 for Broadcom routers:
https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=321699&highlight=41328
Search build threads with the search function and search on build number.
10. Use the build threads from the former step to report success or problems.
11. For older Broadcom routers (Linksys WRT54 and E series) read the peacock thread although some of it is outdated: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=51486
Builds can be found in the Broadcom directory for Linux kernel 2.4, in Broadcom_K26 for Linux K2.6 and in Broadcom_K3X for Linux K3.X.
12. If you are sure you have discovered a bug, after asking and querying the forum, you can report a real bug in the bug tracker: https://svn.dd-wrt.com/
This is also the place where the commits/changes to the source are administrated.

Sorry to bump this thread but since it's the first search on google i will explain how i resolve it.
God bless you for saying that usb3 can be one of the problem... Mine was the rock64 nas with the usb3 connected right under the router.
I moved the nas and magically the 2.4 ghz was working again. Thanks!
