I have a Linksys Smart WiFi as my main router on the 192.168.1.1 network
I have a Chicken coop outback that has two Axis POE Cameras in it. I want to put this Linksys WRT54g WITH DD-WRT firmware out there. I will connect a POE switch to it to power the cameras.
I I setup a router on the Smart Wifi as follows
Coop
192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.2.1
Then on the WRT54G I have:
Coop
192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.1
Yesterday I swear it was working SORTA. I had internet but no LAN connection. In other words, I could connect to websites but I couldn't ping or see any device on the other side of each router.
I come home today and what I had yesterday isn't working today.
I have search EVERY where for what I need and I swear no one is doing it.
I can ping the main network no problem
I can Ping the Coop ROUTER only. Anything behind the router, I cannot see
I also disabled Filter anonymous Internet Requests on both routers with no difference
I then Disabled the firewall on the computer I was trying to ping.

No idea what you are doing or how you have setup.
Especially regarding these entries: 192.168.1.11 and 192.168.1.1.
Gateway and local DNS should be default at 0.0.0.0. for repeater mode setup
What wiki have you followed to setup?

In My house, I have a Cable modem hooked to a Linksys SMart WiFi Router.
Internal IP is 192.168.1.1
Outside I have a Chicken Coop with two cameras. These were previously hard wired into the house. I have since had to move the coop away from the house.
I setup a WRT54G to be a Wireless Client by giving it an IP address if 192.168.2.1 while the WAN is 192.168.1.11
This router successfully connects to my wireless network. I verify this by plugging in a laptop to one of the 4 switch ports on that second router and I get Internet.
I am able to from that same computer ping BACK into the house network (192.168.1.x) and see everything on that subnet.
What I really need to be able to see everything on the 192.168.2.x network as this is where my cameras will be outside.
This is where I am stuck. I can see everything on the 192.168.1.x network from the 192.168.2.x but NOT the other direction. EXCEPT for the main router 192.168.2.1
I hope this clears it up or else I am going to have to break out a visio drawing.
Bascially you have two subnets, and it is normal that from the downstream router you can reach upstream, but not the other way around as the downstream router has its firewall and upstream has no route to downstream.
When using default settings you should not be able to reach the downstream router itself either, unless you enabled Remote Access on Administration/Management.
So to reach downstream disable the firewall on the downstream router on Security/Firewall page.
Set a static route on your upstream router to the downstream router, as this is not DDWRT I can not tell you how to do that, to give you an idea I attached the instructions for DDWRT.

Ok, so I got it working for the most part.
I can ping and see both sides
I can even access my cameras. works great!
I removed the Static route from the second router (DD-WRT) AND I used the
iptables -I forward -j accept
command
One weird issue though.
I can connect to the second router (192.168.2.x) when wired up to it on a laptop on the same network, but I cannot access it from the 192.168.1.1 network Wired or Wirelessly.

You probably have not disabled the firewall on the second router.
You do not have to, instead you can use iptables commands to let traffic through
Like:
Code:
iptables -I FORWARD -j ACCEPT
This lets traffic through and onto your network
But if you also want traffic to your router itself you also have to enable that with:

I would like to thank you for the command to allow access to the router from anywhere.
I want to send my appreciation for the continued support in this matter. I'm learning DD-WRT and this is helping.
So here is what I have noticed tonight while testing:
Ping rates from the second router to my main router are very low 1-3ms, which is good.
Ping rates from the Main router TO the second router are VERY high. 100 - 500ms. It also now takes a VERY long time to open the web interface, if it does at all.
After a while, the connection just drops. I reboot the router and the connection comes back and works. Then fails again.
The only thing I've done was lower the power from 75 - 45 and set left antenna to RX and the Right antenna to TX.

I do not think that has anything to do with the commands
But can be related to the tinkerring with the settings you are doing, just leave everything at default.
Could also be related to the build you are using, I probably missed it but there are a lot of "not so good" builds out in the wild.

I just wanted to come back one final time to thank everyone who's helped me through this process.
Come to find out it was one camera that was hogging the bandwidth. With the two outside, there has been no issues. So thank you again for helping me get my chicken coop cameras wireless.
