Welcome to Broadcom r48646 beta release thread for reporting, feedback to developers & community benefit.
Please do not flash builds until installation is understood, risks involved and device specificrecovery methods.
Avoid discussions, create threads for questions, general problems or use search; this thread is not for support.
Please list router model & revision, operating & wireless mode(s) and exact filename/firmware image flashed.
Issues, observations, and/or workarounds reported:
• WebUI: Clear history or use a portable. Temporary cache bypass: Ctrl+F5, Cmd+Shift+R or new private window/incognito.
• DNScrypt 1.95 can still be used in WebUIbut v2 (not compatible) requires Golang and thus Entware. See Trac ticket #6246.
• WDS does not work on Broadcom ARM devices (only MIPS<->MIPS) & bridge modes on k4.4 devices may sometimes work
in some configurations for certain builds but are not supported by the bcmdhd driver. Try client or repeater modes, but YMMV.
• VAPs not working at bootare fixed, both unbridged (r40634) and bridged (r47822). Please test, removestartup commands.
• If startup scripts do not work from USB add delay (wait script), sleep 25 or try Administration -> Commands -> Save USB.
• Broadcom ARM devices if 5 GHz channels are missingvia Telnet/SSH: 'nvram set brcm_unlock=1' 'nvram commit' 'reboot'.
• Please report findings with steps needed to reproduce, configuration, clients, output, logs and important information below!
Important:
• Detail issues & relevant configs, logs: syslog klog 'dmesg' 'cat /tmp/var/log/messages' nvram set console_debug=1, serial.
• Firewall NAT: 'iptables -vnL' 'iptables -t nat -vnL' 'iptables -t mangle -vnL' & 'cat /tmp/.ipt'. Misc: stracetcpdumpwireshark.
• Gremlins: reboot. cold boot. Reset & reconfigure not restore backup. Search Trac & discuss in forum before opening tickets.
• Include operating & wireless modes (e.g. Gateway, Router, AP, CB, WDS, Mesh) and applicable configurations to reproduce.

Router Model: Netgear R6400v2, board_id: U12H332T
Firmware Version: DD-WRT v3.0-r48647M Community Build (04/13/22)
Kernel Version: Linux 4.4.302 #1 SMP Wed Apr 13 08:14:42 CEST 2022 armv7l
Upgraded from: DD-WRT v3.0-r48607M Community Build (04/07/22)
Reset: No not this time
Status: Up and running for 2 hours, basic setup as Gateway, static leases, 2,4GHz and 5Ghz working, USB storage NAS working.
OpenVPN server working.
WireGuard server working with 8 clients (phones, Windows and two other routers for site-to-site setup).
mDNS/Avahi working.
Issues/Errors: My one wireless WPA device reports on Sys-info page that ‘Signal Quality’ is ‘100%’. I expect ~70%. I have tested in Edge & Chrome, but no difference. This issue has been present for the last 3 releases (at least).
Assumptions:
1. Everyone on the forum has read the relevant forum section announcements.
2. For Broadcom section we have ALL at least tried to understand the "Peacock" thread,HERE
Everything seems to be working.
I started from scratch in an effort to get VLANs and VAPs working. See my posts in previous thread for more details.
The final break through was realizing I needed to explicitly assign Port 0 to VLAN1 in my startup script. But to recap:
I needed to set up the port assignment so that the trunk port back to my router was tagged on the new VLANs but untagged on VLAN1. I wanted to use the WAN (port 0) for this. This cannot be done with the GUI.
I wanted 3 additional VLANs bridged with 3 VAPs (2 on the 2.4GHz band and one 5GHz).
I set up the VAPs using the GUI. I created the bridges using the GUI and added each VAP to a separate bridge. (See attachment for Networking Tab for settings).
I created the VLANs and their assignment to the bridges using the following script:
Code:
swconfig dev switch0 set reset 1
swconfig dev switch0 set enable_vlan 1
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 1 set ports "0 1 2 3 4 5t"
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 3 set ports "0t 5t"
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 5 set ports "0t 5t"
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 100 set ports "0t 5t"
vconfig set_name_type VLAN_PLUS_VID_NO_PAD
swconfig dev switch0 set apply
vconfig add eth0 3
ifconfig vlan3 up
brctl addif br3 vlan3
ifconfig br3 192.168.3.254 netmask 255.255.255.0
vconfig add eth0 5
ifconfig vlan5 up
brctl addif br5 vlan5
ifconfig br5 192.168.5.254 netmask 255.255.255.0
vconfig add eth0 100
ifconfig vlan100 up
brctl addif br2 vlan100
ifconfig br2 192.168.100.254 netmask 255.255.255.0swconfig dev switch0 set reset 1
swconfig dev switch0 set enable_vlan 1
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 1 set ports "0 1 2 3 4 5t"
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 3 set ports "0t 5t"
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 5 set ports "0t 5t"
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 100 set ports "0t 5t"
vconfig set_name_type VLAN_PLUS_VID_NO_PAD
swconfig dev switch0 set apply
vconfig add eth0 3
ifconfig vlan3 up
brctl addif br3 vlan3
ifconfig br3 192.168.3.254 netmask 255.255.255.0
vconfig add eth0 5
ifconfig vlan5 up
brctl addif br5 vlan5
ifconfig br5 192.168.5.254 netmask 255.255.255.0
vconfig add eth0 100
ifconfig vlan100 up
brctl addif br2 vlan100
ifconfig br2 192.168.100.254 netmask 255.255.255.0
Rebooted the router and everything works.
Initially the VAPs worked but I then had no Internet access on any of the LAN ports - that's when I realized I should try adding port 0 to VLAN1. I'd tried doing this via the GUI on an earlier release but couldn't get it to stay that way.
I didn't change anything on the Switch Config Tab and that still shows VLAN1 with ports 1 - 4 and VLAN2 with port 0 !!
Anyhow, it appears to be working. Thanks to @egc, @blkt and @the-joker for support. Thanks also to BS and other developers.
Will report back if I have any further issues.
Mike
