Welcome to Broadcom r48607 beta release thread for reporting, feedback to developers & community benefit.
Please do not flash builds until installation is understood, risks involved and device specificrecovery methods.
Avoid discussions, create threads for questions, general problems or use search; this thread is not for support.
Please list router model & revision, operating & wireless mode(s) and exact filename/firmware image flashed.
Issues, observations, and/or workarounds reported:
• WebUI: Clear history or use a portable. Temporary cache bypass: Ctrl+F5, Cmd+Shift+R or new private window/incognito.
• DNScrypt 1.95 can still be used in WebUIbut v2 (not compatible) requires Golang and thus Entware. See Trac ticket #6246.
• WDS does not work on Broadcom ARM devices (only MIPS<->MIPS) & bridge modes on k4.4 devices may sometimes work
in some configurations for certain builds but are not supported by the bcmdhd driver. Try client or repeater modes, but YMMV.
• VAPs not working at bootare fixed, both unbridged (r40634) and bridged (r47822). Please test, removestartup commands.
• If startup scripts do not work from USB add delay (wait script), sleep 25 or try Administration -> Commands -> Save USB.
• Broadcom ARM devices if 5 GHz channels are missingvia Telnet/SSH: 'nvram set brcm_unlock=1' 'nvram commit' 'reboot'.
• Please report findings with steps needed to reproduce, configuration, clients, output, logs and important information below!
Important:
• Detail issues & relevant configs, logs: syslog klog 'dmesg' 'cat /tmp/var/log/messages' nvram set console_debug=1, serial.
• Firewall NAT: 'iptables -vnL' 'iptables -t nat -vnL' 'iptables -t mangle -vnL' & 'cat /tmp/.ipt'. Misc: stracetcpdumpwireshark.
• Gremlins: reboot. cold boot. Reset & reconfigure not restore backup. Search Trac & discuss in forum before opening tickets.
• Include operating & wireless modes (e.g. Gateway, Router, AP, CB, WDS, Mesh) and applicable configurations to reproduce.

Memory management is different in Linux vs Windows. On the minus side Windows 11 is not even close to what I call a stable OS. IMO its just gimmicks disguised as some new technology that really is made to further planned obsolesce agendas by such companies who subscribe to this conspiracy + to remove more freedom from users and gain more control over your already dilapidated privacy and useful data used to build profiles on you.
You could try to use WinDirStat Windows side to find the missing space. though again, how Windows does things and Linux does things are different fundamentally.
The SMB component is not a factor IMO, since it only shares the disk and when viewed in explorer of your Linux file manager, then the caveats apply depending on OS.
The point is that I share a USB memory stick with dd-wrt's integrated samba server :
-Physical USB stick is almost empty and 128GB large, one NTFS partition
-dd-wrt system running on my 6400v2 router mounts this USB stick as a 115GB NTFS partition (GUI->Services->USB status) , which is correct
But connected smb clients see it as a :
-Windows 11 : 460GB disk
-Windows 10 : 460GB disk
-Debian 11.2 (linux) : 494GB disk
Which is incorrect
The same thing happens with another shared NTFS 16GB USB stick, correct size on router, but on client side :
-Windows 11 : 60GB disk
-Windows 10 : 60GB disk
-Debian 11.2 (linux) : 64GB disk
May I precise that I use dd-wrt's integrated samba server, minimum protocol SMB 2.10, maximum protocol SMB 3.11, and that size was correct on client side (at least under Windows 11) with dd-wrt r48540

Again Linux and Windows arent handling these things the same, they are fundamentally different. You need to investigate windows side with the tool I suggested, since Windows hogs extra space for several reasons.
If nothing comes of this investigation, its not a bug IMO, its just down to how Linux vs Windows handling of disk/memory. Also I am not familiar with Windows SMB implementation vs Linux.
On my Netgear r6400v2 fitted with dd-wrt r48607, a NTFS USB stick shared via dd-wrt's integrated samba server is seen about 4 times larger than its real size on client side, no matter whether client is a Windows 10, Windows 11 or Debian Linux 11.2 one.

I think we are misunderstanding.

I understand EXACTLY what you're saying, doesn't matter anyway. I asked you to plug the USB stick directly to a windows machine, note the space and then plug it directly to a Linux machine check the space and compare, so as to rule out SMB, but you ignored me, so good luck.
This patch is included in this build. Hence I asked for a simple test of plugging the usb stick into WIndows and Linux directly to rule out any crap. I dont enjoy typing just to warm up my fingers.
It's best for me and the community, that I refrain from trying to help people in forums, I'm not in the best frame of mind to handle things in a way that doesn't make obvious my frustration so transparent. I thought this would be a good distraction and its having the opposite effect.
