The firmware for Asus RT-N18U is still 50% of the usual size (since build 54079). Is this really normal?? Some previous builds had Unbound and Curl missing. NOT flashing this one.

I think you either have to 'try this build' or email Brain Slayer (BS)...i hope you know how to unbrick..if so...
I dont think he used some compress stuff, to shrink the size so well, so email would be the best option...and waiting/patience... _________________ Atheros

I am still not 100% confident to get RT-N18U into CFE Mini Web server. I definitely have NEVER tried the 4-pin serial connection. Um...
I will just wait for things to come around. Maybe BS and other developers are too busy with other tougher things. Until then, I will keep watching the file sizes of new RT-N18U firmwares.
Thank you for the attention and ideas!
(I suspect it's just the Makefile for Asus RT-N18U... maybe some options were turned off by accident. Of all the Asus RT-* firmware files, only RT-N18U was halved.) _________________ Router: Asus RT-N18U (rev. A1)

Router/Version: Asus RT-AC87U R
Update method: WebUpgrade
File/Kernel: asus_rt-ac87u-firmware.trx_r54109 / Linux 4.4.302-st46 #10565 SMP Fri Nov 24 05:05:39 +06 2023 armv7l
Previous/Reset: r54095 / no
Mode/Status: Gateway / Up and running for 2:10 hours
Issues/Errors: Nothing significant
As always, the Quantenna chip has its own quirks. This is a closed source chipset
There is no way to install a channel.
But you can disable 5.0 GHz. @mpgalaxy hack "If you set the radio mode to station bridge and disable the network mode, the 5GHz device will turn off completely even after reboot."
The fact is that the router is connected to the Internet (to the Internet provider). And it reports an error, the red WAN indicator flashes (the icon in the form of a planet). The internet works, I just think it's a glitch.
But this does not affect the work.

This was a brand-new (to me) router picked up from a thrift store. (for $15 USD!!)
I followed the steps to tftp-backrev to the older Linksys firmware then webflashed to FW_EA6900_1.1.42.161129_prod_DDWRT_upgrade.img then webflashed from the Linksys firmware to the r23158 build of DD-WRT then webflashed from that build to this build.
I updated the EA6900 wiki and added some corrections.
As with all of these Linksys 32k/64k nvram routers, the initial loads of more current DD-WRT code WILL overflow the in-core NVRAM variables and the 32k mitigation steps MUST be immediately followed after flashing this build. (documented in the wiki)
The only flaw I can find in this build so far is that like all of these dd-wrt builds for the ea6900 it turns off the Linksys power indicator light logo on the top of the router once dd-wrt has booted. I updated the wiki with instructions to turn the light on. (it's backwards from what you would expect)
Where else can you get an 80Mhz wide 5Ghz wifi access point for $15 that supports hardware NAT?
Thanks, BS!
