Router Model: Linksys EA6900 (XVortex CFE)
Firmware Version: DD-WRT v3.0-r54569M Community Build (12/21/23)
Kernel Version: Linux 4.4.302-st47 #1 SMP Thu Dec 21 08:15:11 CET 2023 armv7l
Upgraded from DD-WRT v3.0-r54475M Community Build (12/06/23) via telnet (update via GUI not possible because nvram is placed on linux partition and not linux2 partition due to Xvortex CFE)
Reset: No not this time.
Configuration: Default gateway mode, 2,4GHz wireless running with unbridged VAP, 5GHz running, some static leases and some port range forwarding.
Four WireGuard tunnels running, one Server, one site-to-site and two Clients in Fail-over group to Mullvad (of course with PBR to allow the WG server to use the WAN).
OpenVPN client and server tested and working but disabled.
DDNS (dynv6) working
NVRAM size 56K (NVRAM size should not be a problem with the Xvortex CFE)

Posted: Thu Dec 21, 2023 15:33 Post subject: Unable to flash on trendnet-811DRU
I have been unable to flash any builds on the trendnet-811DRU since the one on November 1 (build 53843). I notice that the bin file size increased after that build from ~6 MB to ~12 MB. I don't get any errors while flashing. I just notice that the device reboots and then comes back still running 53843.
Router/Version: Asus RT-AC87U R
Update method: WebUpgrade
File/Kernel: asus_rt-ac87u-firmware.trx_r54569 std / Linux 4.4.302-st47 #10705 SMP Thu Dec 21 04:31:54 +06 2023 armv7l
Previous/Reset: r54545 / no
Mode/Status: Gateway / Up and running for 4:19 hours
CPU Temperature: CPU 62.5 °C / WL0 40.0 °C / WL1 0.0 °C (ambient temperature 16.0 °C)
Issues/Errors: Nothing significant
As always, the Quantenna chip has its own quirks. This is a closed source chipset
There is no way to install a channel.
But you can disable 5.0 GHz. @mpgalaxy hack "If you set the radio mode to station bridge and disable the network mode, the 5GHz device will turn off completely even after reboot."
The fact is that the router is connected to the Internet (to the Internet provider). And it reports an error, the red WAN indicator flashes (the icon in the form of a planet). The internet works, I just think it's a glitch.
But this does not affect the work.
Just relax _________________ Atheros

Previous/Reset: 3.X mega 47911 / Yes
Mode/Status: wl1: Station (client), N/A mixed, not bridged. wl0: AP, Mixed, bridged. OpenVPN client with Kill Switch enabled. Some static leases.
Issues/Errors: No issues installing using webUI firmware upload. When I first connected to the router, I noticed the one wireless client (a Win10 computer connected to the 2.4GHz AP interface on the E3000) got disconnected a few times, but that seemed to have stopped. I looked at the OpenVPN log and it looks like there are a lot of disconnects.
Uptime: 1:26
Full disclosure, I'm a novice. I hope this is helpful.
Edit: 1. approximately 4Mbs down using OpenVPN, then approximately 27Mbs down using Wireguard (wow! thanks for the tip EGC!).
2. Noticed the time (hours and minutes) in Syslog was right on, but the date there showed Dec 31 on Dec 23. Elsewhere (current time under STATUS/ROUTER) shows the correct date and time. NTP client was enabled.

Consider using WireGuard instead of OpenVPN, it is much faster and easier to setup on this old router.
WireGuard and OpenVPN docs are stickies (first few threads) in the Advanced Networking forum.
