I'm searching for cheaper TpLink router than XR500 and I would like to ask opinion about Tplink Archer C7 V5.
Is that OK with ddwrt? Is the wifi performance stable enough for everyday use?
It would be just a generic router without gaming, the wifi and VPN are the only important stuff for it.
If you use one, I'm waiting what the rating of it.
The recommendations will always be the same, especially since used condition availability and prices are changing.
Sometimes luck you can find great deals even for higher spec routers but usually middle spec EA8500 or R7500v2.

@roland90: keep in mind, you're more likely to get an A7v5 than a C7v5 NIB. You have to read the listings carefully or roll the dice. I presume the purpose of VPN is to provide site to site, and if so (or if not), then Wireguard is the best option for lower-end devices for better throughput. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"
