EDIT: i was able to get 9/3/2022 working without issue. i had to flash up from the older versions. it seems that one of the older versions had to be flashed to ensure newer versions would work without issue. i started with 12-30-2021-r47942 and began to flash up in version 2-3 months apart until i was able to reach 9/3/2022.
edit again:
version 09-03-2022-r50057 would freeze the router after about 10 minutes of running great. I'll have to spend the next few days figuring out which firmware works best without locking up the router completely.

what firmware have you all been most successful with? I have tried a few and seem to have issues.

Please test builds only after webUI factory defaults or nvram erase && reboot manually reconfigure.
Also if you are using the experimental driver build from subfolder do not nvram set brcm_unlock=1.
Finally, do not use auto channel so please configure set or fix both radio channels so they are static.
and seems to be the most stable for me. 9/3/2022 ran great and fast for 10 minutes! then the router froze along with all networking. 12/30/2020 only seems to be using 2.4Ghz for connectivity though. all wireless devices are connecting to wl0 and nothing else. will be testing each version from there upward to figure out which is best for me.
I suspect your configuration to be faulty. Please post screenshots of your entire setup on the current release (50146). It is policy that we cannot support fixing previous releases or help you troubleshoot older releases. Thanks for understanding.
my postings are intended to identify a stable release not to fix past versions.
the firmware I pulled was from the database for router search and info page. thanks for sharing that it was not the first release.
it has been my experience with older hardware, there will be a break point where newer releases cause issues on older devices like system lock up. so I am looking to identify a stable release, new or old.
also, with my last experience with my Archer C9, there was a specific mid point release that needed to be flashed before loading of newer releases. that firmware package was a requirement to move forward as certain items were no longer being included with the newer firmwares and caused issues if they were missing. I'm hoping that isn't the case.
after spending about 6 hours today flashing and still running into issues with firmwares i ended up bricking my AC5300. don't seem to be able to get into recovery/rescue mode as i held the reset button for over 5 minutes in multiple attempts. i'll try again one more time but am stuck with only the power led.
regarding wifi settings i only did the very basic, WPK, AES128, 2.4Ghz N Only, 5Ghz AC Only. defined some static IP addresses and that is it. did not setup anything else. when the router locks up or freezes even the LAN locks up and all LEDs stay on and stop flashing.
what i can tell you is that...when i flash to specific older firmware then new firmware the wireless is called wlan0, wlan1, wlan2 after flashing the newest firmware like displayed on older firmware. when i flash up through the different releases in consecutive order in pretty broad jumps from a older flash to the latest firmware, wlan0/1/2 is renamed to wl0/wl1/wl2 so i'm clearly seeing specific firmwares effecting what is flashed next.
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r45219 (12/31/20) was the only firmware that was stable for me although not the best in performance, it didn't lock up or freeze at all. i even flashed from 9/10/2022 firmware to Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r45219 (12/31/20) and it resolved my issue with all wifi devices only going to wl0 that i had last night. same network and wifi configuration.
Now we're seeing a small part of the picture; N-only and AC-only are not recommended settings... _________________ "The woods are lovely, dark and deep,

I did trying:
48255 - not all clients be able to connect
49976 - Do not support VAP's, and really slow
52720 - all clients be able to connect, 27 min for now, works fine.
