I have a DD-WRT v3.0-r41664 std (12/06/19) - Netgear R6300v2
My goal is simple, use this a router between my LAN and the internet, as a standard router:
LAN - DD-WRT - Internet
All I can get is having the internet working on the DD-WRT but not on LAN.
On the LAN I can ping DD-WRT (192.168.1.1), I can ping the public IP my router gets, but nothing else
When I try to ping anything on the internet I'm getting:
Quote:
PING 8.8.4.4 (8.8.4.4): 56 data bytes
Request timeout for icmp_seq 0
Request timeout for icmp_seq 1
Request timeout for icmp_seq 2
Setup -> Basic Setup -> WAN Setup: DHCP (indeed I get the public IP from my ISP)
Setup -> Basic Setup ->Network Setup -> Local IP Address: 192.168.1.1
Setup -> Basic Setup ->Network Setup -> Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Setup -> Basic Setup ->Network Setup -> Gateway 0.0.0.0
Setup -> Basic Setup ->Network Setup -> Local DNS 0.0.0.0
Setup -> Advanced routing -> Operating mode: Router (no other configurations)

You may have to go to the Administration tab and then to the factory defaults page and reset it and start over. That's a new one on me, I haven't seen that happen. Usually the defaults are WAN is automatic DHCP and all of the rest of the network stuff is good, shouldn't have had to do much. Did you reset to defaults immediately after it booting into DD-WRT after flashing? Sometimes, clearing browser cache, clicking save and/or apply will unlock things, but sometimes you just have to start over. You may have fun getting wireless settings to stick as well. Known issues, sometimes it doesn't want to play nice. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

I did all the setting from private browsing (some with ssh) but I didn't reset it after flashing. I'm going to give it a try later this week and let you know what I got

Why must Netgear and Asus be such special Ks.
Not sure if upgrading to today's build (41686) will help or not, but there is some kinda funky gremlin going on. What exactly did you configure to what particular settings?
The reset to defaults should have been enough to get you started. You may have to go into telnet / ssh and do an 'nvram erase && reboot' for it to reset properly. I rarely use that option on any router, but I think with some of the webUI gremlins that seem to be creeping up, it might be necessary. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

I started using DD-WRT around 2008, then usually everything works and I don't have to touch it for years - that's when I forget how things are done. Unless it is internet facing then you have to keep it up to date. I think it is the best solution when you look at the cost/features
