This is probably the largest collection of shell scripts you'll ever come across for an application.
I mentioned in post #1 of this thread that I would add support. No involvement from the DD-WRT coders would be required to get Diversion running on such routers:
<- snip from post #1 ->
In the interest of finding out potential usage on DD-WRT I ask for your opinions on ad-blocking in general and if adding support in Diversion for this firmware would be appreciated.

I just stop using Asuswrt-Merlin firmware today, after years, due to my recent need for a "client mode", that dd-wrt can provide. And to be honest, one of the first things I've searched for: "Diversion DD-WRT".
@thelonelycoder
I read above that you're somewhat unhappy with the response on this forum, I really have no ideia why, but I hope that doesn't mean you're not going to port Diversion to dd-wrt. I'm absolutly sure that anyone that would give it a try, would soon understand how user-friendly, loaded with features and effective, it is.
An amazing work you did, maintain, and constantly improve. The perfect ad blocking solution packed into my router, and available do all my end devices.

We need you! The ads are getting out of control and I have to use dd-wrt. You have made something important and we would love to see it in the DD-WRT firmware. Please consider it.

Hi,
Another up-vote from me for a DNS based adfilter on DD-WRT: I have just installed "Adblock for DD-WRT" (version 2) by Yamaraj recently. Website: https://adblock.sh Github: https://github.com/m-parashar/adblock
PRO: works flawless and decent.
CON: No development since Feb 2020 apart from the occasional URL updates.
CON: I already miss the ability to add my own (e.g. country specific) block lists.
Also, I do not know how sophisticated your SW is, but if you handle the upstream server config I hope using DNS over TLS or HTTPS is possible / the default.
I did not check the features of Diversion, but if it is comparable to PiHole (which I also used to use) then I assume this is possible with it.
Let me know what to beta test, I have Entware already installed if needed!

When I get the time I'll try to test that script. Maybe I can get it up to speed with options that are configurable through the WebUI. _________________ Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker for Asuswrt-Merlin

My Netgear R6250 is 128M/256M, unstable for Yamaj/Adblock.sh even Blitz=1 no matter how DNSCryptV1 or unbound I chosen, and without any VPN actived.
If you want sb. to testing your code, I will be glad to join.
This is disappointing but I have a hard time at testing with the routers I test with (Asus RT-AC1900P and Linksys E1500) constantly hanging up. No SSH, WebUI. _________________ Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker for Asuswrt-Merlin

On which version of DD-WRT?
Thanks for caring. What I notice is that booting takes a long time. Maybe that is related to the adblocker being active and it updates itself for reasons. The process takes up a lot of memory with grep, sed and other operations.
This router boots up in about 15 seconds with Asuswrt-Merlin (this is my main field of shell scripting).
Maybe I'm just an impatient coder...
I'm new to DD-WRT so be gentle, it's a learning curve
On the RT-AC1900P running Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r44715 std (11/03/20)
Is there a newer version for that router? _________________ Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker for Asuswrt-Merlin

OK, I see. I must say the DD-WRT website is as confusing as it gets for newbies.
I found your link in your signature to the latest beta versions.
The first line says:
!!!! DO NOT USE THE ROUTER DATABASE !!!!
Never mind, I'll get the hang of it. Have the germans in DD (Dresden) gone AWOL? _________________ Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker for Asuswrt-Merlin
