- Install ASUS latest 3.0.0.4 from 2020
- Manual power off then hold reset + power
- ASUS Recovery Utility: clear NVRAM, once complete, hit continue
- ASUS Recovery Utility: Upgrade to dd-wrt.v24-52720_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega_RT-N66U.trx
- Once it boots, manual power off and hold reset + power
- ASUS Recovery Utility: clear NVRAM, once complete, hit continue
- ASUS Recovery Utility: reboot
- First reboot, Change the admin password and connect to telnet, as soon as I click on other tabs or a small changes, my HTTP and my telnet sessions go off, but still respond to pings.
- Manual power off and on
- After rebooting, connect to HTTP and telnet sessions, as soon as I click on other tabs or a small changes, my HTTP and my telnet sessions go off, but still respond to pings.
Reboots, either clicking on other tabs or any small changes, will disconnect HTTP and telnet sessions, and cannot get it again until another reboot and the same thing occurs.
I tried also other versions such as:
- dd-wrt.v24-52720_NEWD-2_K3.x-big-RT-N66U.trx
- dd-wrt.v24-44715_NEWD-2_K3.x-big-RT-N66U.trx
and the same results.
Any ideas anyone?

He's using the Asus Restoration Utility and Recovery Mode, not a browser. May require older version of utility, OR setting up Recovery Mode and using the mini CFE web server. Recommend using an older version of Firefox Portable. You open http://192.168.1.1 when Recovery Mode is confirmed by flashing power light. Preferred method is via restoration utility, then mini CFE, then older version of stock firmware via webUI. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

I will give it a try with incognito.
Browsers I've used (the first two on the same machine, MacOs):
- Brave, it does have a password manager
- Firefox, no password manager
- Chrome Flex OS laptop, no password manager
Currently waiting on a reboot from the last Big firmware, takes quite a bit long sometimes.
I should mention, when on the ASUS firmware, all ok with any browser.
WOW! That did it!
Running Brave in Incognito mode I was able to make all necessary changes
The final running version is DD-WRT v3.0-r52720 mega (05/27/23)
Next are performance and stability tests.
Weird running into this, as yesterday I set up DD-WRT on a Netgear R7000 and had no browser issues at all.

Apparently you can not read, flashing works without problems only the interaction with the WebIF not.
I read just fine, I didn't read the entire post . Just like people don't read all available resources before flashing this firmware. Going to add a note to RT-N66U wiki about browser recommendations, which should be use Private / Incognito / InPrivate mode with no add-ons or extensions enabled, whatsoever and no use of internal or add-on password management. Portable Browsers preferred. While we're on the subject, Pale Moon no longer handles the logout escape sequence properly. It's still usable, but logging out doesn't work like it used to. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"
