I'm changing my main router and am wondering if it is possible to restore a backup from the 1900 to the 3200 in order to keep all of my settings?

Most things are easy enough to copy over such as my dnsmasq options, but I have over 30 port forwards that I would hate to have to recreate again.

I have seen mention of restoring backups from differing routers causing a bricking issue, but since the hardware is rather similar I didn't know if this would apply.

Once upon a time I came across a way to import/export sections from the nvram, but restoring port forwards never worked correctly for me.

Thanks!

Caveat Emptor, but you should be okay to backup from one to the other; just keep in mind that if things go awry, you should save all your settings pages as .pdf or .mhtml files just in case.

Thanks for that link - very useful. It will be another week before I make the switch, so maybe in that time I can come across the tutorial for backing up/restoring only the port forwards so I can start fresh.

Quick update - it doesn't work. Won't even let me restore the file - gives this error right after:

The values you entered are invalid. Please try again.

Granted, I tried this first going from a 1200 - 1900 since there aren't many settings on this one.

No idea why it actually fails or what is invalid.

Another update - 1900ACSV2 - > 3200ACM also fails with the same message. Seems it isn't possible to restore between these.

Marvell devices probably have some specific fingerprint in the nvram backup that prevents it, then.

Thought I had found another solution, but it turns out that was for static leases using "nvram get static_leases"

Hoping the same thing can be done with "nvram get forward_spec" and put them into the new router somehow
