Interesting article about Broadcom goings on . . .
"A complaint has been issued against Broadcom by the FTC, accusing the company of illegally monopolizing markets for semiconductor components used to deliver broadband internet services and television. The FTC has also issued a proposed content order that would settle the charges. The consent order states that Broadcom can no longer exclusively require its customers to source components from Broadcom."
Edit: I do realize this is the Marvell MVEBU based Hardware forum but thought it might be interesting for those of us considering moving to a different router brand in the future.

This has little to do with wireless routers. This is about cable modems and other areas of the market where Broadcom is the best choice since SoCs like Intel Puma and others are complete garbage. The only thing that makes the Intel Puma SoC-based devices worth a darn is the Broadcom and Qualcomm chips being used in them. My main router is an Intel Puma 6; the ethernet switch is Broadcom, the wi-fi is Atheros and the firmware is from 2019. I would really love to have the source code and the ability to flash it and not have to rely on the vendor, but it is what it is. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"
