|
Hello,
I'm currently running r42872 on a Linksys WRT1200AC. It has been very stable and solid with all of my devices, but my HL-L2395DW printer will not connect to the wireless network on this revision.
Checking /var/log/messages we only get as far as:
Code: |
May 23 15:24:25 gateway daemon.info hostapd: ath1: STA $PRINTER_MAC MLME: auth request, signal -39 (Accepted)
|
and then the printer fails to connect further/associate. The error message the Brother prints (literally) states that the device does not support a 5GHz SSID, so I tried even splitting the 2.4 to a VAP and connecting to a 2.4GHz-specific SSID.
I also tried disabling WMM as I know that has been an issue with some IOT-type devices. Has anyone else experienced this issue, and if so, what was the resolution? I suspect some configuration change will solve this. |

I also have an old Brother HL-blahDW printer that doesn't do 5 GHz. With build after build on my router, a WRT1900ACSv2, the Brother would not connect reliably (on 2.4 GHz). Occasionally it would connect (LEGACY) after minutes to hours of trying. But if it did, the connection would not be stable. Ultimate resolution: ethernet cable. Works flawlessly.
Seriously, I've only had two devices that ever had trouble connecting to wifi, both old 2.4G devices that always got LEGACY connections. The Brother was one, and the other was an old AirPrint speaker. The speaker is still on wifi and still has trouble, though it definitely does better on recent releases (41954 and 42926) than on ones from 2019. I haven't tried the Brother on recent releases, because a cable works for me. _________________ 2x Netgear XR500 and 3x Linksys WRT1900ACSv2 on 53544: VLANs, VAPs, NAS, station mode, OpenVPN client (AirVPN), wireguard server (AirVPN port forward) and clients (AzireVPN, AirVPN, private), 3 DNSCrypt providers via VPN. |
