Hiya,

1) Is this thread is the only official 'Asus RT-AC87U' thread for firmware issue/support?
https://forum.dd-wrt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=266322&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

2) After I updated the r42132 firmware version, 'services>speed checker' > Internet-speed option speed checking will not give me any response? I press the button and it stays pressed and speed test meter remains in '0'? What shall I do? I updated to r42287 stock firmware and the same issue happens. How shall I fix this? I need to frequently use this service to test my speed, and it's important for me to fix it. It was working perfectly on old firmware r40559?

Tnx and best of luck

Déjà vu

1.) Yes, but there are other threads people have created for specific problems.

2.) You can open a ticket about the problem via Bugtracker SVN.

Hiya,

Thanks. The speed test that I get on the browser isn't always the speed on the router, I run an OpenVPN on the router and I need to maintain a speed test there. As sometimes I run OpenVPN on OS too. Thus, that speed test on the router is unreplaceable. I will report this to the https://svn.dd-wrt.com/ as you mentioned and wait for a reply from BS.

Tnx and best of luck

If your x86 PC computer has been manufactured in the past decade you should not have any issues with a browser test.

Have you tried any of them? Most forum reports use these tests as a source.

Running a test directly on the router uses additional resources, most certainly affecting your VPN.

If you are connected via Ethernet with a browser test you should be getting accurate results.

dslreports has configuration preferences for lo-fi mode (no graph animation), high res bufferbloat (or off) and more.

speedtest has free native apps.

nperf has apps too.

Here are some alternative browsers to try. Waterfox Current and Classic, Pale Moon, Portable Legacy 45 or 52

All the speedtest sites require a Chromium-based browser to work for sh*t. It always craps out on upload on non-Chromium-based browsers for me. Even on my newest workstation. BS replied on your ticket and recommends upgrading to the latest release:

That's funny, they work fine for me and I don't use a Chromium browser. Nice blanket statement though (all sites).

The apps bypass that potential situation. GUI apps are too resource intensive? There's are CLI versions as well.
