A very good forum post was made out running a router in client wireless mode.

This page should eventually contain the information in the link above, along with any DD-WRT specific updates to the instructions. This page should explain what Client Mode wireless is/does, why you would want to use it, and then end with the setup tutorial. Ideally the different configuration situations can be linked with page anchors or something to make it easier to follow.
