If you don't know if your router is completely bricked, first see Note 6 of the Peacock Thread first. If you are still unsure, ask on the forums.

First you need to see if there are specific instructions for your router. Search on the internet for "model of your router dd-wrt wiki" and "model of your router openwrt wiki" first. On those pages, if they exist, look for any of the following terms: TFTP, serial, JTAG, recovery.

See the following links on how to recovery your router only if you can't find specific instructions.

The order of recovery to try is:

  • TFTP first
  • Serial next
  • JTAG last, if your router is support (Atheros based routers are not usually supported)
