My wireless works flawlessly, my Ethernet is intermittent.
Facts:
- I have cox cable. They just came out and replaced a lot of stuff and even put a new line from my house to the whatever across the street. When I connect via the Ethernet directly from the modem to my computer, all is well.
- I have a Mac PowerPC G5 running OS 10.5.8
- I connect the WRT54GS and the wireless and Ethernet work fine. After a while the Ethernet connection will die.
- If I go to the router and switch the ethernet cable from one port to another that is open, sometimes it will work again. Most times I have to unplug the router, wait and reconnect and all is well again for a while. Sometimes hours, sometimes all day and yet it seems that when I need to be connected the most, that is when it goes out.
- have had this router for over 3 years and this just started happening about 4 months ago.
I have tried resetting the router, reconfiguring, the software is up to date and I ever
reinstalled that. Is it possible that the Ethernet side is just going out? I called Linksys and because it is out of warranty they wanted to charge me, but that is almost as much as purchasing a new router.
Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance!!!
Cheers!
Gar
