Tell me..
If you want to upgrade your original stock firmware and you go to the TP-Link Support/Download page, what firmware version would you choose there for your 3.6?

A v3 firmware?
A v4 firmware?

Sorry, but the TP-Link support page does not have a selection for 3.6, it only has a selection for v3 or v4.

Which one would you use?

Use v3 in this case.

However, other Chinese manufacturers may change the whole platform while using a very similar revision number such as v1.0 and v1.01 or even keep a same one. That is caused by the CCC certification process of Chinese government. The process costs lot on every new model. And each difference model one is supposed to obtain an unique certification number. Manuf.s saves money on using a cheaper platform and the same model number, same case design as well as the same certificate.
So please still pay attention to it if you are using a Chinese branded unit.
