does that happen for all the network cables you have tried and on different computers?

Will tinker more with it and find other cables. Not the end of the world but I'm going to be streaming more HD content soon and need the gig throughput
unless you are really happy with that build, why don;t you try a newer one. i have been using 19519 for ages now and it;s been solid for me. There is always a possibility that a newer build could fix throughput bugs.
Can even confirm that I am getting 30 megabytes per second to gig lan to lan speeds plus attached USB RAID array.
by the way, in a rare case a bad cable can always cause computers not to auto negotiate to the best speed. I have a prebuilt cat 6 50 foot cable that does that(negotiates at 100 mb/s) for no reason at all. No breaks that I can see. just a 1 one a 1000 occurrence. _________________ Please state what make and model router plus the build number and type of DD-WRT you are using. you know you can even go to the 3.x kernel version of 22118 now on the RT-N16 if you really want to go to the newest. there is a thread..... _________________ Please state what make and model router plus the build number and type of DD-WRT you are using. But I'm not seeing anything regarding the rt-n16. I'll research it more later.
because the Asus RT-N16 is so basic and well supported, it usually doesn;t require anything special to get onto DD-WRT. _________________ Please state what make and model router plus the build number and type of DD-WRT you are using. thought this would be useful to be contained in this thread for those interested in going to the 3.x kernel version on this model.
We seem to have an issue where going directly to the latest version from a 2.6 version causes a brick. so the prerequisite step is to flash 3.x 21530 even though it;s not usable.
This guy seemed to have wrote it the best. Thanks again.

Based on previous notes from Mazout360 and madman999 this is how I got the latest K3.x image installed and working on my ASUS RT-N16
Everything seems to working fine except that the LAN and Wireless MAC address were the same. I was not able to fix this from the Setup, MAC Address Clone GUI. To fix this I added the following line to Administration, Commands, Save Startup.
nvram set wl0_hwaddr=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx && nvram commit
Substitute xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx with the LAN MAC address + 2. The LAN MAC address can be seen from the Status, Sys-Info page.
Everything seems to work fine. Note that I have not tested PPPoE.
Geoff.

Are there any benefits of getting the latest versions? Added features or anything? I've done more reading on my specific router and not so much on the development stages of DD-WRT.
what did I say earlier? "There is always a possibility that a newer build could fix throughput bugs." Also other stuff could break and get fixed-like OpenVPN support, Port Forwarding,Compatibility with OTRW ect...I don;t know specifically but it;s generally okay to upgrade to the latest but feel free to stay at whatever release works well for you.
the 3.x kernel version is pretty intriguing to me. It;s reported that the 3.x kernel supports hard drives greater than 2 TB. I haven;t tested yet though. Another thing is that the NVRAM is 64K instead of 32K. That could be huge to some people.
Also port forwarding is fixed in release beyond 19696 so no startup script is necessary now. _________________ Please state what make and model router plus the build number and type of DD-WRT you are using. I got to 19519. If there is more USB hdd support (auto-mount, format, etc) in a more recent version I might upgrade higher. That'd be a nice feature but it's too much work to get going right now.
Can anyone confirm that OpenVPN runs as per official guide? I've had a reset happen to me during the install and am wondering if the 32K NVRAM are sufficient or if I need to store the keys somewhere else.

Did 19519 help with your issue or are you still experiencing the same issue? _________________ Please state what make and model router plus the build number and type of DD-WRT you are using.
