Hello, community,
Firstly, sorry for possible mistakes, English isn't mother tongue for me...
Secondly, I've a problem... I'm an owner of this device, my ISP provide internet-access via PPTP with Dual-Access. If i use a stock fw, I can get access to the internet, all base functions working correctly. but... I want connect to USB-jack a printer, not only sticks or HDD's. And I want try to use torrent-functional (Transmission f.eg.) Embarassed
Yesterday I tryed to install firmware, which named "TP-Link WR1043ND v1.1/v1.4 Firmware: Special image for initial flashing". Of course I was not sufficiently attentive, and missed hardware versions incompatibility (my device has 1.8 hw ver.).
As a result internet access was impossible, although firmware, I think, was installed, because web-interface was accessible, DHCP server "time-to-time" gives addresses to clients... Finally I came back to stock firmware. Sad
So, question: DD-WRT doesn't support my device, VPN PPTP with Dual Access or hardware revision isn't supported, incorrect firmware image selected or I do something wrong?
Thanks for your caution and waiting answers...

Hmmm... I installed DD-WRT again, but I can't congigure internet access, if I choose PPTP with static IP, i can't save settings. When I press APPLY button, field "default gateway" is empty Sad

Just wanted to say that today I've bought a TP-Link TL-WR1043ND rev v1.8 and installed DD-WRT firmware on it successfully.

Static IP + VPN-client + route to VPN-server throught static gateway = Dual Access PPTP VPN Smile

problem with WAN on v1.8
if u on dd-wrt install this first:
tl-wr1043nd_v1-webrevert.bin

after restart install this wr1043nv1_de_3_9_17_up_boot(100331).bin
(this is german firmware)

then ddwrt as normal
1.factory-to-ddwrt.bin
2.tl-wr1043nd-webflash.bin

i upgraded from firmware 14929 to 19519, on 1043nd rev 1.8 and it all works great,
(i didn't use that method that was given here, just reset factory default and upgrade from web interface.

simple, clean, easy, works perfect.

I installed yesterday build 19519 on my TL-WR1043ND v1.8 and this morning I had to power off and on the router. It was hanging.

Somebody knows how to see how and when it hangs?

there are 2 versions of rev1.8 in the market.... those with SN beginning with 11xxxxx would work with any dd-wrt published firmwares.... but those SN beginning with 12xxxx will block the WAN port.

i've tried your method above, and it almost bricked my router (could not get an IP from the router via LAN interface, nor would a manually configured IP work, so I had to flash it when connecting to the router wirelessly)

I've tried reloading with the german firmware, and i must say that method works! though, a little too many steps....
