As a side note: did anyone tested if LAN port numbering is right?
Brainslayer builds are screwed - so far only Fractal has working build on rt-n66u...
fractal - please, release your bin - maybe its worth to update router databse with your working bin's...
That's not a wise idea.
Development builds are never a good idea to release. It's always best to keep a development build contained and distributed to only a handful of people. Otherwise you just get a crapload of people who - despite having been told that it's a dev build - will still complain, nag you for help and even dis you and your work just because something may have gone wrong or something doesn't work right.
Next thing you know, you've got a ton of people asking questions and expecting you to answer them. And if you don't (likely because you're BUSY working on the next or final build...) they get all pissed off at ya.
Nah... I wouldn't release the bins yet until the build clears a few standards and certain key people have had their chance to test whatever is current in the SVN/repository/whatever.
We'll get it soon enough. Let's just let Fractal do his thing.

Fractal -can you set Channel bandwidth to 40Mhz on 2,4Ghz band and tell us is it working ? On Asus FW doesnt work at all - only 20Mhz (40Mhz on 5Ghz works well). So far only tomato rt-n can operational on 40Mhz 2,4Ghz band but wifi driver on this sucks... _________________ Asus RT-N66U
Fractal, do you have an account set up for receiving donations? Your hard work is much appreciated and i'm sure there would be many people (like me) who would like to donate to help you support ports to current and future Broadcom devices.

My two cents? If I were to use and it works out as nicely as it appears to be?

Hello all, this is my first post. I apologise if my questions is in the wrong forum. I am considering buying the N66U but I want to make sure i can view the traffic usage of each IP or device attach to the router. I know you can view the total usage but i am looking for a router or firmware that will go in details of the usage. I currently own a RT-N56U and and the monitor is very minimal and it is not supported by DD-WRT
Oh man, I'm seriously considering the N66u. I've just recently bought a NETGEAR WNDR4000, but it isn't really satisfying my needs in terms of range, and according to SmallNetBuilders, the range on this bad boy is great!

Please can someone help me with flashing this router...
So what I have done:
1) initially configured stock firmware
2) static assign wired IP for laptop doing the firmware flashing
3) use the web UI to flash: dd-wrt.v24-18702_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_RT-N66U.trx
4) DDWRT boots for the first time ok with mini build. Change user name and password.
At this point things fall apart. Essentially If I reboot the router, or try and flash it with the full build the router will not boot properly. If I enter the inbuilt recovery mode, if I do a NVRAM clear I can get the wireless LED to come on.. however no web GUI comes up. If I reboot, then I just get power LED and ethernet. It seems something is stopping it boot properly.
I have tried doing the 30/30/30 before flashing dd-wrt.v24-18702_NEWD-2_K2.6_big_RT-N66U.trx and then after the flash.. I have also tried flashing it from the recovery firmware after clearing NVRAM.
Once the router enters this state, the only way I can get it back is recovery firmware, clear NVRAM first and then flash the stock firmware latest build.
I have not yet tried flashing to the big build directly from stock firmware.. Should I try this?

Any ideas anyone>?
Before posting any story telling, read the peacock thread and follow ALL procedures to the letter both for flashing and for recovery. Then report results.
I am getting interested in this router. I already have Linksys WRT600N, which is working well except that it erases its settings and goes to defaults about every 6 weeks with the recommended build 14929 of DD-WRT.
It seems this router on this thread is the only alternative for DD-WRT for simutaneous dual band, gigabit, and external antennas features.
I am curious, will its range and ability to maintain speed at distance outdo the WRT600N? And what size is the nvram in the production model? My WRT600N runs with only about 3k nvram to spare of 32k and I wonder if thats why its crashing.

THis information can be found with a google search. Also, there are other options for DD-WRT with gigabit, ext antennas and dual band.Dlink DIR-825 comes to mind. I'm sure there are more.

first that firmware is experimental, it is known to not work and we are waiting for word when one is known.
Fractal has done a great job of finding the bugs specific to rt-n66u.
I am just waiting for when his fixes are included in the next release
