for some reason I cannot visit any domain I have pointed to my wan ip from within the lan yet anywhere else lets say my mates house well it works fine.

This issue existed with the routers default firmware which is the reason I changed to dd-wrt yet the issue still exists.

my router model is "Dlink-DIR615 rev d"

can anyone please help me this issue is causing a real headache with development.

You didn't post what build you're using. Loopback is broken in builds higher than 15760 so you will either need to manually add iptables rules to fix it on recent builds or use an older build.

Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (11/21/10) std
Time: 03:02:09 up 8 days, 5:16, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

Is there going to be a fix for the loopback issue? :S

what I don't understand is why this issue existed on the default router firmware and now on dd-wrt I was believing it was a hardware issue

The default firmware probably didn't support loopback, many don't.

You also flashed a very recent beta of dd-wrt without taking the time to read up on users' feedback about the build. There's no telling when or if it will be fixed, BS is difficult to communicate with.

It's confusing the hell out of me because sometimes it works but then for the majority of the time I'm just met with a timeout... my mate is the only one able to manage the site with me just left either messing with host file or just not bothering I don't understand how Dlink won't handle the domain I didn't even know it handled a connection differently if the ip returned from the domain lookup was the wan ip.
