I've spend hours searching this site on how to use the 2610 with DD-WRT as a standard access point on an existing network. I do not want WDS.
My end goal is to use the 2160 as a hotspot with hotspotsystem attached to an existing standard network. In doing so, the clients get an IP address from hotspotsystem, but can not browse the internet no matter what setting I change. I've also removed the hotspotsystem settings from the GUI, but the device still connects to it.
The only way I can get the system to work currently, is if the main gateway/router (a buffalo wireless N running factory dd-wrt and hotspotsystem) set to not separate from wifi, and the 2610 connected to the LAN and getting DHCP from the main router.
It's set to connection type: disabled
Router IP (internal IP)
subnet mask.....
gateway: main router/gateway
local dns (right now on 8.8.8..
assign wan to switch, unchecked.
dhcp = forwarder = ip of gateway
operating mode = router
Any other setting = connect to wifi can't browse. Also, if I browse to my WAN IP off network, it goes to the 2610, not the gateway. It also does not listen to the DNS of the gateway, and pulls the WAN DNS.
Help! I just want this to be a normal AP running hotspotsystem on an existing network! Running FW 14311.
