I have this router, and it currently being used as an access point. I have tried DDWRT firmware, but it seems to cause the router to slow down even more.

Right now it's on stock firmware. The wifi is really quite slow for what it used to be I only get 20 - 45mbps on the 2.4ghz network and 50/65 on the 5ghz.. I've 30/30/30 and erased nvram. )sometimes the 5ghz stops broadcasting if i change something related to it)

But, anyway, It's on default settings, 20/40 for 2.4 and 40 for 5ghz. It says up to "300mbps" and i know thats theoretical speeds. It's on different channels to the r7800 downstairs which gives out the full speed (because its newer of course)

Nothing i seem to do helps get the access point to 60 atleast on 2.4 20 or 40mhz. The 5ghz will sometimes push past it. it seems the co existence setting is missing on the v4 though.

If anyone knows why this router is prtty much struggling to push out a decent wireless speed, or anyone can offer advice, I'd be greatful!

Here're some screenies from the wireless pages of both routers.. (power is at 50, so not to interfere too much with the other router)

Maybe it's the firmware? I remember before updating it from an older firmware it was quite fast.

I was also wondering, if i went back to DDwrt, what version is better for this router. Newer revisions dont really do much for it.

Thanks to the both of you.
For those who have the WNDRv43700
What sort of performance at maximum has it been able to give wirelessly?

Also is there any sort of "special" thing that needs or could be enable for the v4?

nat performance from the cpu matters too..for "internet wifi" for local wifi speeds maxes are attainable easy when setup properly. (140-170mbps for 2.4ghz, 180-210mbps for 5ghz 2x2:2)
