Which dd-wrt firmware can I use for my WR740n router? Mine is v4, but there is no file when I search in router database.

LE: Never mind, I found them. Smile

Hi.

Just upgraded* to 19519 (07/20/12), all the features that I've set up are working properly (IP reservation via MAC, port redirection, secure wireless with MAC filter, "sys" and "wlan" LEDs are working).

I'm very happy with the device performance now (originally router used to hang all the time when traffic was high enough).

Thank you.

Reason for upgrade - port redirection didn't work and "wlan" LED didn't work with site-proposed firmware version.

Hello,
My version is 2.5. From what I've read it's ok to install v2 on it, right ?
I want to install tplink_tl-wr740nv2 r18024 because I've heard it's stable and that's what I'm looking for, I don't need repeater or things like that, just stability, speed and port forwarding.

Hello! I've got ver.2.0 and using v24sp2.
I have an issue with wireless lan:
I set up a network on official fw using WPA2-PSK AES with my password. Laptop and smartphone was connecting to this network without a problem. But on DD-WRT something is wrong: Laptop is connecting ok, but my phone says that entered password is wrong (but I typed it right). When there's no password my mobile connects without a fail. Are there more settings determinating security settings of wi-fi?

Greetings.

Hi,
I came here just to say how long my device lived:

day1
first setup:
-wifi security
-open port
-login password etc
-mac clone

after i woke up in the morning router was acting like a switch only i couldn't get to it by browser, wifi wasn't working - not allowing any device to connect to it

day2
So i flashed new factory firmware did second setup and everything was working fine. After i woke up next day the story was the same - no router, no wifi, just a switch

day3
I flashed newest official DD-WRT, managed to setup everything i wanted but port forward wasn't working so i did input some commands for NAT loopback like:
Code:
iptables -I INPUT 1 -s 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.111 -p tcp --dport 58234 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I INPUT 1 -s 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.111 -p udp --dport 58234 -j ACCEPT

(and more)

still wasn't working

so i wanted to flash newest release of DD-WRT - DD-WRT did not allowed me to so i flashed stock webflash - after reboot the router died on me - BRICK - just a power led nothing else

wasn't the reverse file uploaded with the company of factory-to-ddwrt.bin ? even if i made a mistake with flashing - the router still was rubbish

Hello,
My router is WR740n v2, I've been using dd-wrt for two years now without any problems, but my new roommate's PC seems to make it slow and laggy. We're using PPPoE 50/30mbps connection. I keep a ping to google servers 24/7 to check when there are problems.

He's connected through WiFi, wpa2 with aes with 20mhz bandwidth. Sometimes I just start losing a lot of packets when he's watching youtube for example, which shouldn't be possible. We're both using torrents, but when I am, no problems whatsoever. I check the number of connections open and we go sometimes over 1000 (timeouts are 120 for tcp 120 for udp). Tried QoS giving my MAC exempt priority, tried to limit the connections with iptables connlimit and both of these solutions put the router on a pretty high load (over 0.6 on 15min). Is it the router that's trash or should I try something else to fix this?

I have WR740N and installed the DD-WRT firmware on it.
First I uploaded factory-to-ddwrt.bin via web browser. After some time it restarted and asks for username and password.
Then I uploaded tl-wr740n-webflash.bin

But after that it said that upgraded successfully but router is not detected by computer and Its lights continuously blinking and nothing is happening even after reset.

Is there any way to reset to factory firmware now.

Upgraded to latest version (01-01-2013-r20453), everything is working except LEDs of unused ports (wireless also) are permanently on for some reason. Please fix.

Upgraded to "DD-WRT v24-sp2 (04/15/13) std".

LEDs are working properly now - lit only for active connections. Thank you!

Addendum: The router now hangs every few days...

I've just flashed with this ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2014/01-10-2014-r23320-fix/tplink_tl-wr740nv2/
For now there are no problems for the LEDs or other. With 1 restart everything is OK.
Great firmware!

Hello,

what DDWRT is recommended for TL-WR740N Hardware Version 2.5 ?

On FTP there are only V1, V2, V3 and V4

Would like use my WR740N only as WLAN Accespoint.

Thank you all for many answers... I have put the V2 DD-WRT on the TL-WR740N V2.5

Accespoint-Function works with no problems.

I haven't updated firmware for a while now.

Recently I updated to a current beta and discovered that DHCP service is not working on it. Also there seems to be something wrong with DNS service (or DNS forwarding).

This error is true for all the recent versions of beta firmware (the ones with the rounded buttons design).

I had to downgrade.
