Hello all,

I tried finding this subject listed, I'm sure it is somewhere, but I,m just not that savvy at finding it, and I didn't want to hijack someone Else's thread.

I just saw today that Newegg has the Asus RT-N16 for $78 with the promo code EMCZYNT82. Is this the badboy that everyone wants? Or is there something else out there that's most desirable?

I know the first response is going to be somewhere along the lines of, "It matters what you want to do with the router." Then to a lessor degree other inquiries into someone's capabilities. I'm just asking as to what seems to be the most wanted router out there for doing stuff, and lets just leave it at that, thank you very much. Rolling Eyes

Sorry I don't know how to do the url linking on these forums. If needed I can provide the link to Newegg item.

I look forward to all responses and feel free to share the info I missed.

Thanks.

If you have no need for 5Ghz, then yes, the RT-N16 is very sought after, if you do need 5Ghz though, i would suggest an E3000 or WNDR3700.

The RT-N16 is a kick ass unit, but lacks 5Ghz, the radio can do it, the manufacturer decided to lock it down though, don't know why.

If you are in a very crowded area - you may want to go 5GHZ

I live in the suburbs though, and have a lot of radio space

2.4 Ghz works well for me - no problems on my side

If you live in the city with tons of wireless, 2.4 Ghz may NOT be what you want

In that situation - 5Ghz would be much better for your needs / reception
