hmm, anyone get this to work? I downloaded it, and flashed it to my netgear router, but when it restarted it still has the original netgear GUI on it.

I checked the FW version of the router, and it says that it is now 1.0.0.3 (it was 1.0.0.12 before, so I know it applied the update)

Does this image not update the GUI to dd-wrt as well?

What have you downloaded?
link please =)

Isn't it quite obvious what he has downloaded?
Did you even bother to read the whole of this 3-page thread?

Read again but I did not understand that he downloaded ;(

I installed ubuntu 8.04 and gcc 4.1 and compiled WNR1000v2-V1.0.1.20RU_GPL_src.tar.bz2.zip.
It was a very long time.
But the compilation is successful!
Now I examine the source code to fix a bug in the l2tp protocol.

I have a few of these...at my disposal....any suggestions on other firmwares to try? I realize a suggestion was made earlier on, but if anyone could be more specific I'd greatly appreciate it as I'm super-noob when it comes to programming-type stuff (network design/admin guy).

A link would be awesome....but if I don't hear anything, I'll just start trying what I figure out I guess. Like I said...got several at my disposal, and happy to test stuff.

I am dying to get my hands on DD-WRT for this version of the router. I'm suprised that v1 and v3 are up, but v2 is not. I feel a bit left out. I had DD-WRT on my old linksys WRT54G, but that router died and the v2 is the replacement.

Anyone have any luck making a workable build?

from what i can tell, this v2 seems to be specifically made for TV providers (comcast, Dish)... ive read many people say theirs were from comcast, and mine are from Dish. might have a connection to why they're so hard to open up to ddwrt? dunno, just a random info.

That's the funny thing. I actually got this router from a friend. I had no issues updating the firmware normally, or editing ANY of the settings. I wonder if the v2 hardware is the same as the others, just a different purpose. Has anyone in the past tried flashing it with the v3 software?

I find that unlikely, as you can run openwrt. Though I'm not exactly sure on the details of it.

well, i have jtagged xbox's before and i have one of these routers available to be willing to attempt to rip and flash and help on the project in any way i can..

i have xbox 360 flashing and soldering skills and have been able to identify and rip psp game videos to a watchable format on the pc, all with a hex editor

so keep me updated, does anyone know which points we would have to make connections to in order to make this jtag actually work?

-edit-

if i follow this guide
http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/d-link/dir-600 but only find the corresponding connection points on my router... do you think its even possible that it will load without modifying the firmware and just flash the dlink firmware as is?

Hey there,
Here is the serial log as requested.
I'm not sure what you meant by header info so I've included as much info as possible in the log.

If you need anything else, please let us know...

Once ported to this platform, I'm willing to test it on my router if necessary.

I know a little about U-Boot and could set up nfs/tftp.. to load kernel & rootfs for test purposes.

Just let me know...

Thanks
