@DD-WRT Guru

Yes, that seems like the exact driver.

What is the process for getting this driver into x86/64 dd-wrt?

Hello! Just picked up a Minisforum UM250 and want to try using it as a router with DD-WRT. Upon installing it on the internal SSD, it boots up just fine, but it doesn't seem to be doing any network connectivity. The controller present on the board appears to be the Intel® Ethernet Controller I225-V. Any chance of adding support for it?

No plans from intel to officially support kernels below 5, but there have been porting efforts from others.

I225 series is interesting because of the recent transition from soon to be discontinued I211 in mini PCs.

Is the Atheros AR9271 supported? It wasn't recognized in the GUI. I tried to SSH into it but got an access denied even though I typed the right username and password and SSH is enabled under Admin.

"AR9271" is an ath9k chipset and is supported.
However, only the paid dd-wrt professional version has USB support.

And it is possible that the USB ID of the dongle is unknown and must be added to the driver.

I have paid for an activation, but don't have the page to get the system key(status/activation?). It is the pci-e version of the card. Would you please tell me the steps to get it set up?

Edit: Nevermind for right now. I thought I had the Atheros version, but have an updated Broadcom version which won't work. I'll get an Atheros card and try again. Will the activation screen pop up when I get a proper wireless card?

Will the QCA61x4A also work?

You have to install one of the "full versions".

https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2022/05-06-2022-r48810/x86/

https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2022/05-06-2022-r48810/x86_64/

full_vga or full_serial

Then "TRIAL" is written in red at the top of the banner.
(the trial version runs without activation for 24 hours).

The "public version" does not support WLAN at all

If the card still does not work, we need a bootlog / syslog + klogd.

OK I did the webupgrade full 2gb and activated it, but I still doesn't have a wireless tab.My motherboard BIOS shows that it is a Broadcom. I assume I need to exchange the card. Does the QCA61x4A chip have compatibility? I can get a card with that chip.

probably works with the right board.bin
But this is more of a client card with a lowend chip with combined WLAN and BT and quite low transmission power.

E.g: https://compex.com.sg/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/wlt674-v1.5-sl-194.pdf

For example, it has a VHT80 transmission power of 9dB.

QCA9984 and QCA9994 cards are recommended as AP.
However, they are hard to get and also very expensive.

You should also be aware that you actually need 2 cards if you want to operate 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz at the same time.

Otherwise you need a DBDC card (Dual Band Dual Concurrent).

I don't know what exactly you're looking for.
But most Atheros WLAN cards are mini PCIe cards.
So the first step would probably be to buy a PCIe to mini PCIe adapter card.

Unless you have some weird x86 motherboard that already has a mini PCIe slot.

http://www.hwtools.net/Adapter/MP2W%20Series.html#

Mini PCIe cards:

https://compex.com.sg/wifi-module/

Look under ( 802.11ac Wave 2 )

DBDC card:

https://www.qnap.com/de-de/product/qwa-ac2600

But the QNAP card can cause problems (says Ben Greear).
(he said his PC's always froze at high load on both radios).

Well, in any case, it's not cheap fun.
2x Compex cards + 2 adapter cards and antennas cost about ~300-400€.

I'll ping tatsuya and see if he has any better suggestions.

qca61x4 is supported, i have one, it works decently except for wds. if its used as a wds ap, the stations connect fine but no data transfers between them, only the qca6174 has that issue, as regular ap, its fine. but mine isnt a compex one, the compex one aside from costing more than other brands, MIGHT need a board.bin file from compex like my qca9888 did in order to function.

listed power consumption/tx power isnt always accurate, i know for sure qca6174 can do much more than a pathetic 9dbm, sometimes brands list the "recommended/design max", sometimes list the actual hardware max.

my qnap qwa ac-2600 is fine, maybe ben has a power supply with a weak 3.3v rail.

and for any mpcie/m.2 card going into a x86 system, make sure it uses 3.3v ONLY, not 5v, and not 5v+3.3v as most motherboards dont support 5v to pcie slots, unless u can find some special adapter card that has external power port or something.

stick to qca cards for x86 they work the best so far. broadcom was said to been added to x86 yet my bcm4360 based card still isnt detected so... and mediatek is still needing work on the mt76 driver, at least for their ax cards.

there is also qca9882 which is decently priced as well, or the qca9880 which is a 3x3 version of 9882. if u do look at qca9880 make sure its a 3.3v only version as that card has lots of 5v versions out there..

Although this is completely correct with the 3.3V

But you can also solder the 5V directly onto the card (this is how people got all the reference design cards to work).
