I want to update the software on my Fonera (2100) with "DD-WRT v24 RC-5" installed.

Which ".bin" do I need, the "linux.bin" or "fonera-firmware.bin"?

Thanks

You need the linux.bin firmware file as you have to flash your device through redboot. A step-by-step guide to do this can be found here http://fonerahacks.com/index.php/Tutorials-and-Guides/Updated-DD-WRT-v24-Final-Flash-Guide.html

Only if you wanna upgrade dd-wrt releases prior to RC7 the Redboot method is required. Afterwards you can upgrade through webgui to the current release. Be sure to restore factory defaults prior to upgrading though.

Sorry, but I do not even get your question? What do you mean?

Just download one of these and flash using redboot. If you use the gui to flash your router it will just brick it, it happened to me.

I just did it uppgrading v24sp1 to v24 becose the wep don't accept keys (only atogenerate). The uppgrading by webgui went ok but it taked 15min. (good tat i didnt rebooted, uppgrading takes some time)

is the Eko:s TNG, ok to flash with web gui a Fonera? or it will brick? (Is Eko's TNG made for Browdcom ony?)

PS. v24 works bed, but v24sp1 is wers... What you get is stable AP with lots of flash (8Mb)

I just discovered an old Fonera 2100 in my closet with RC4 on it. If I've read correctly, I cannot do the web gui update, right? I don't remember at all how to flash this thing, and all the tutorials online seem complicated.

Are there any newer/easier methods to update the firware on the Fonera 2100?

Check router-database for installation instructions.

I actually went ahead and tried the web update for shits and giggles and, of course, it died, so do I have to go through all that SSH enabling junk or can I just follow what's on the router database page?

I don't know what "compiling" is or why the author pities me if I try it on a windows machine, but that does not look easy.
