Hi everyone,

after googling, searching here in the forum and walking through the wiki without success I now try to get help by opening this thread :)

My setup: Linksys WRT600N with DD-WRT v24-sp2 (12/07/09) big //Build 13401
Giganews account with VyprVPN (PPTP)

Now, I can open a VPN connection to VyprVPN from a client connected to my WRT600N without any problems. Nevertheless my goal is to establish the VPN connection from my DD-WRT router and have it always on, in order to have all my clients internet traffic through the tunnel.
My steps were:
.) Services - VPN - PPTP Client Enable
.) insert the IP of the european VyprVPN server (67.215.65.132)
.) config 138.199.0.0/255.255.0.0 as remote subnet
.) set MPPE encryption: mppe required,no40,no56,stateless (but also tried different things here)
.) actual userneme and password
.) left the rest on default settings
.) Save settings, rebooted router

Having this done I end up without any "established" VPN tunnel. The WAN connection is ok, but VPN is simply missing. dmesg on the router gives me the following
Quote:
etherip: Ethernet over IPv4 tunneling driver
ip_conntrack_pptp version 1.9 loaded
ip_conntrack_pptp version 1.9 unloaded
unable to load module ip_conntrack_pptp automatically because kernel was compiled without kernel module loader support
Unable to register NAT application helper for pptp
ip_conntrack_pptp version 1.9 loaded
ip_nat_pptp version 1.5 loaded
vlan2: add 01:00:5e:7f:ff:fa mcast address to master interface
ip_nat_pptp version 1.5 unloaded
ip_conntrack_pptp version 1.9 unloaded
ip_conntrack_pptp version 1.9 loaded
ip_nat_pptp version 1.5 loaded
vlan2: del 01:00:5e:7f:ff:fa mcast address from master interface
vlan2: add 01:00:5e:7f:ff:fa mcast address to master interface
ip_nat_pptp version 1.5 unloaded
ip_conntrack_pptp version 1.9 unloaded
ip_conntrack_pptp version 1.9 loaded
ip_nat_pptp version 1.5 loaded

Unfortunately I dont know how to deal with this output or proceed.
Experimenting out of shell with the scripts in /tmp/pptpd_client I get no other results too. For examlpe /tmp/pptpd_client/vpn start makes this show up in the running processes
Quote:
1896 root 1524 S /bin/sh /tmp/pptpd_client/vpn go
1903 root 1312 S pptp 67.215.65.132 file /tmp/pptpd_client/options.vpn
1904 root 1312 S pptp 67.215.65.132 file /tmp/pptpd_client/options.vpn
2161 root 1312 S pptp: call manager for 67.215.65.132
2170 root 1312 S pptp: call manager for 67.215.65.132

/tmp/pptpd_client/vpn debug reports back "Already active!"
Nothing I do understand / would be able to use either ...

Anybody hints or an idea what I am doing wrong / what is wrong Wink ? Maybe my idea of having an VPN connection established, visible and used (like opening it out of a windows client) is an illusion? Any help would be appreciated. Many thanx in advance, regards

Try using the wan port instead. may not be possible in your case. I managed to do it because my DD-WRT is on my LAN with all my PCS behind my router which is the gateway to the ISP.
in my case it was a WRT54GL but encryption performances where not so good.

You need to connect the dd-wrt with the wan port to your internal switch.
Then configuration/connection type PPTP
gateway : eu1.vyprvpn.com
username : user
password : password

and it should work.

you have the following chain :

PC---LAN-DDWRT-WAN--ISP BOX---Internet

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/PPTP_Server_Configuration

Quote:
# Finally, go down, Save Settings, and then click on "REBOOT ROUTER", this step is very important, no mather what you have configured, if you dont reboot router, settings will not work.
# Once you have completed the data input go down an click on "Save Settings" to save changes, now on the page "Settings Are Succesfull" click on "Continue" and again on "SERVICES" tab, where you doublecheck the values of your PPTP server.
