Hi, I'm trying to setup a router (Netgear WNR3500L)
with dd-wrt (DD-WRT v24-sp2 (02/23/10) mini - build 13972).
I already have a router to WAN, this 2nd device I want to use in a subnet within the LAN.
My environment looks like this:
192.168.61.0/24 LAN1 with access to WAN via router1
192.168.62.0/24 LAN2 with access to LAN1 (and through it to WAN) via this new router2.
Ie. the task is to setup router2 (dd-wrt).
Between LAN2 and LAN1 I want to use the firewall features of this new router2.
How should I configure router2: as "Gateway" device or as "Router" device?
Anything else to consider?

I would suggest Router Mode, unless you have more than one Internet connection.

In Gateway Mode, all outbound trafik from WAN port will be natted.

Search the Wiki for Linking Routers.

Yes, sounds logical but... somehow it only works in Gateway mode (ie. NATted),
but not in Router mode (even adding a static route doesn't help).

I found this link:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linking_Routers
but it seems to handle wireless cases, I need it for wired environment.
