Need help to get my printer recognized. Got lemonade 1.2.2 put opt and share in the root of USB drive . Copy lemonade script 1.2.2 and pasted in Custom Firewall text window and save.
Do I have to modify the script to get my printer (Brother HL2140) recognized in windows xp sp2?
When Telnet in it doesn't show:
davygravy@bitbaker64:~$ telnet 192.168.11.150
Trying 192.168.11.150...
Connected to 192.168.11.150.
Escape character is '^]'.
hurricane, I'm not sure what your issue is. What telnet client are you using?
It is very possible that your USB hub is (for some reason - chip incompatiblity?) not compatible w/ the router's USB chip.
I've used mine w/ 3 or 4 different brands of hub, and it has always worked for me. YMMV. Sorry I can't help more but it sounds like perhaps a USB hardware issue you are having.
2. Adjust the section ### Settings ### in the below script as follows:
ssid=...................'Your Main Routers wireless SSID'
psk=....................'Your Main Routers wireless WPA/TPIK Password'
channel=.............'Your Main Routers Channel Number'
ip=.......................'An Available Static IP Adress From Your Main Router'
gateway=...........'Your Main Routers Gateway LAN IP Address'
dns1=..................'Your Main Routers LAN DNS1 Number'
dns2=..................'Your Main Routers LAN DNS2 Number'
In the ### Keep Alive ### section: Replace symbol * with blank spaces (* inserted for posting/formatting).
### End of Script ###
Can someone please help me how to find the values for dns1 & dns2 on my network. I am using AT&T 2Wire router. Would those values be same as the router/gateway ip?

Take all the following with the proverbial grain of salt.
Short answer: Use your router/gateway ip for DNS1 and DNS2.
Long answer:
I googled 2wire router dns and waded through a ton of information (which I assume you did also). Your router is apparently a combined Router/modem. Two of the more helpful web pages were:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=522253 http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/60443/
They seem to say that you are correct, use your 2wire gateway IP for both DNS's. Just to test it, set your laptop/computer wireless adapter to these same settings and try to browse the internet. That is, assign your wireless adapter the IP and DNS you are going to use for the Verizon (e.g IP: 192.168.1.200, DNS1: 192.168.1.254, DNS2: blank) Test to see if it connects and can browse the internet (note: if using Windows DNS2 has to remain blank since it will not accept DNS1 and DNS2 being the same). This should work since it is exactly how I configure a static IP for my Windows computers. Then set the SCRIPTs DNS1 and DNS2 to your default gateway IP (just as you had suggested).
The only problem with all this is written about in the http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=522253 post. That is, the guy didn't change anything and his bridge just started to work (similar to my experience with getting the script to take). So you may have everything right but just need to keep on trying. (as I talk about on this thread, page 49, post).
Posted: Thu Jan 13, 2011 22:43 Post subject: VERY NEW to this
Hey everyone, I just went through this thread quickly and I am at a roadblock now. First off, I an REALLY new to all this stuff. I don't really know what DD-WRT is, etc.
Pretty much I have this Westell Verizon 7501 Router. I want to be able to use my MAC address from my PC onto the router. But after having gone through all the settings I was unable to find where to do it. If I have missed it please do direct me how to find the setting.
So I went to Google and after reading around, I ended up on this thread. I have read about this firmware Lemonade 1.2.2. But I don't know what it really means. I don't really need USB sharing or printing. So I'm not sure if I should even attempt to "flash" it to my router.
Also, I read that this router has VoIP capabilities but it is disabled by the firmware? Is there any way to undo that as well? I would really appreciate if anyone could help me out. But please bear with me, because I don't know 90% of the lingo here.
I consulted the manual but it says nothing about cloning MAC address nor I wasn't able to find a place to actually type in the new MAC address for the router. I was hoping maybe someone here understood the whole custom firmware concept and would be able to help me out? Or perhaps there were some other way to change it within some file? I'm just shooting in the dark. I really just need to get the MAC address changed so that I can use it with my ISP.

I don't believe you can clone your MAC address with the Verizon 7501 (google "clone computer mac to 7501 router"). You know about the two main hacks for the router which are Lemonade (USB print driver) and the bridge. Neither of these affect the ability of the 7501 to clone a MAC address. However, you can call your ISP and tell them you've changed computers and give them the Verizon 7501 MAC (or buy almost any other router which can clone the MAC address).
New to this forum and the 7501. Using an old Airport Express (B/G) router as AP.
davy_gravy, jacob019, Frank1777 and others: Thanks for all the work and help!
Frank1777: Appreciate the step-by-step instructions for enabling wireless bridge. I noticed you used jacob019's main script with christoph's "KEEP ALIVE" modification.
Few questions to Frank1777 and others:
1) Towards the end of your "KEEP ALIVE" section, should "ifi" be fi", and "iping" be "ping"?
**ifi
**iping -q -c 2 ${ip} > /dev/zero #one second pause
2) Are the single quotes necessary in the "Settings"?
ssid='MySSID'
psk='MyPassword'
channel='11'
ip='10.0.1.175'
gateway='10.0.1.1'
dns1='4.2.2.1'
dns2='4.2.2.2'
3) Can dns1/dns2 be above values or set to '0.0.0.0' as in your posted instructions?
4) Is there an easy way to set up the print server once I get the client bridge to work? jacob019 states he does this in prior posts with the following script. Does not seem to require lemonade/usb, but how to copy files into /WIFO, and can it be tacked onto the client bridge firewall script?
Here's the new printserver configuration, of course you need to copy usblp.ko and p910nd into /WIFO:
### Print Server ###
hostname printServer
mknod -m 660 /var/dev/lp0 c 180 0
mkdir -p /var/lock/subsys
mkdir /var/printserver
cp /WFIO/usblp.ko /var/printserver/
cp /WFIO/p910nd /var/printserver/
chmod 755 /var/printserver/p910nd
insmod /var/printserver/usblp.ko
killall p910nd
/var/printserver/p910nd -b -f /var/dev/lp0 0

Jkim74, you are right. The portion of the script that says "ifi" and "iping" should not have an i in front. (I've changed the script to reflect this on page 49). It just shows that I can mess up even a simple cut and paste. For anyone else who wishes to double check, the script comes from page 45 with an updated "Keep Alive" from page 46 (of this thread). I will continue to update the page 49 instructions/script so it can remain as a one stop shopping for this bridge hack.
The quote marks in the "Settings" instruction should not be placed in the "Settings" script. As you read each instruction for "Settings" look to the script below it. That will give you a tie in between the instruction and the actual implementation.
I have only a basic understanding of networking, but here is my answer to your DNS question. The use of 0.0.0.0 for the DNS tells the router to use the default ISP provided DNS (I don't know if 0.0.0.0 holds true for all routers). You quoted, from jacob019's script, where he used free DNS servers provided by Verizon (according to my master teacher, Mr. Google). In my instructions, I wrote to use your main router's DNS. That is because whatever DNS it uses obviously works and some ISPs may require a specific DNS (which your router would already be set for). In my script, I used 0.0.0.0 because my main router is using it. In a previous post, concerning a 2wire router, I had mentioned testing/using the default gateway IP as a DNS. In the same way, you can test 0.0.0.0 or any other DNS to see if it gets through by browsing the internet. If it does, then it should work just fine in the bridge script.
As for USB printer support, I have never tried it but would also be interested in what you find out about it.

Posted: Sun Jan 16, 2011 0:03 Post subject: WPA Mode with Bridge
I am familiar with this thread, but not the linux code used to write this bridge. Now earlier in the thread Baba 2 had written a working script for WPA/AES. A summary of his work can more easily be found at:
http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=32458009
One thing to note is that when jacob019 first wrote this script (page 45 of thread) he said "This will only work with WPA/TKIP, not WPA2/AES". I can only assume there were problems using AES.
Thanks for that. There are just too many versions of the code in this huge thread. Maybe it would help to have a summary post on the first page.
I don't remember the details, but I know a Linksys router with HyperWRT also only works as a wireless Ethernet bridge (i.e. on the same subnet) with WPA, not WPA2. WPA2 works for client mode (different subnets).

v7501 working as client bridge printserver with wpa2/aes!
i've set my v7501 as above. connects to wpa2/aes main router, and can wirelessly share usb printers.
i've added the p910nd print server software into /WFIO via a usb stick once. it then survives reboot.
thus thus setup does not need a usb stick to launch.
to set up:
1. reset router, disable public lan, and disable dhcp on private lan (see page 49)
2. upload custom frewall script below. save, then apply, then reboot.
3. copy p910nd and usblp.ko onto an empty usb stick, and mount this stick on the router. (see page 44 post from anonomouse)
4. copy these files to the folder /WFIO on the router by telnetting in:
telnet 192.168.1.202
cp /var/usb_mount/p910nd /WFIO
cp /var/usb_mount/usblp.ko /WFIO
remember, it takes a few seconds to write to /WFIO, so be patient.
5. remove the usb stick form the v7501.
6. reboot the v7501
you should be set!
the script i use is posted below. change your ssid and ssidpassword for your network. you may want to change the v7501 ip address (here it is 192.168.1.202, connecting to main router at 192.168.1.1)
good luck!
