a fpu wont help. dd-wrt doesnt use floating point so much. especially within the network stuff. all fpu stuff is only gui related

Excellent. Still a far cry from the 92mbps of the previous system, but the K5 impressed me.

I'm willing to test it for ya. Got plenty of old computers here.

Since the Celeron 400 pretty much saturates 100mb network, the Athlon will give you overhead to run other processes.

I've been pricing some parts, it is cheaper to build a Sempron 2600+ than an Athlon XP right now, Sempron CPU and motherboard for about $100 USD.

I got a Athlon 1Ghz just laying around, so all I would need is a cheap motherboard with alot of PCI slots, RAM, and a smallish hard drive.

I am also thinking bigger ( but still cheap) by grabbing a spare 760MP board and 2 Athlon MP processors. I think this board has 64-bit PCI slots too...

Oh the possibilities...

Yea, I got a couple of PIII 1GHz systems on the way, couple of 1.2GHz Durons, just need some free time.
