With the newer routers and protection schemes that are beginning to surface, We need to consider donating a brick or two to Tornado.

For instance, the wrt160n uses an 8 bit data buss as opposed to the typical 16 bit buss. The jtag utility does not work with this device. Trying to provide information with a device in hand to T~ so he can add support to the jtag utility just doesn't work. He needs the device in hand.

The newer routers are now coming with a serial flash instead of a parallel flash, support needs to be added to these also.

Depending on the location of the bricked device, we can possibly ask for cash donations to cover the shipping directly to the donor.

I'm not suggestion that perfectly good working devices be sent to T~ although that would be nice. However if there is a "brick" about and all attempts at recovery have failed and there is no jtag support for that device, that should be donated so support can be added.

We would exclude devices that are already supported..

Maybe T~ will see this thread and chime in with a list of devices.

1st on the list, would be a wrt160n

I can only second that request. Please do contact Tornado if you have a router or a brick to donate that he can use for developing/testing/...

I'm sure he will make good use of any paypal donations too.

@Masterman,

Thanks for the offer, but I have a 320n that has a 4716 processor in it, right now, what I need is a router that has an 8 bit bus, like the wrt160n, or something similiar.

It can be broadcom or Atheros based...

additional units with 8 bit bus

FON 2100
Dlink DWL-2100AP - Atheros 2313A

Could you specify which routers would work, that you are aware of. Can you use a 160n v.2 or does it have to be a v.1? (Or does it have to be a v.2?)

The V1's are the ones with the 8 bit buss. Not sure about the V2's. I don't have one of either as yet.

Tornado does a TON of work and this project would be nothing without the work he has done to develop jtag support so that we have a means of surviving bricks. He gets NOTHING for doing this, except what people choose to donate, which has been very, very little.

If tjtag has been useful to you, you should send a few dollars to tornado, if only to show you appreciate what he has done. There is a donate link in his signature, in his post above. Use it!

See changesets 13848, 13849, and 13850....then donate your $100 to DD-WRT.

Or give it to Tornado, he deserves it based on his tjtag development.

Tried to buy a Fon 2100 and a DWL2100AP on ebay, but I ended up being outbid on both. If anyone has one of these, or a 160n that they want to donate, work can be done on 8 bit jtag.
