Hey Everyone,

This is my first post, but I have been looking at DD-WRT for about a year now and trying to see if it will work with my solution.

I am planning to deploy a lot of routers into the homes of people that subscribe to my service.

In summary my service is a way to screen websites and make them "child" safe.

I have setup proxy servers and have them all working nicely, but my problem is I want the defence on the gateway to prevent circumvention...

So I thought put it on a router.. here's what I am looking for:

Router
Wireless
Squid Proxy
Dansguardian
Iptables
SSH

Now I know that you DD-WRT has most of this, my question is more around the proxy and the ease of installing software on top?

Also which router would be ideal?

Ideally I would like to create an image with everything I want installed, but at the moment, I'm not sure how that is done, any help appreciated

If that is even possible, you'd probably need routers
with 8MB Flash and 32MB ram.

As far as which router is ideal, a lot of people are liking the WRT600N routers.

Those are not readily available though

WRT610N's are looking like a good substitute, will support DD-WRT, have 8MB Flash, 64MB Ram.

Internal antenna's - so range will probably only cover the house.

Don't know where you are, but if in the USA, NewEgg has them for about $150 each.

If you were planning to get all this working on cheap routers, like $50 or less, it's probably NOT going to work the way you want it.
