Why are you using that build? have you read the peacock and catfish threads? Try the 12874 build by BrainSlayer.

I tried 12874. It flashes OK, but back to two red blinks. Any other ideas? Will a bricked router still flash?

Thanks again,

Try a couple of hard resets on it.

All you have to do is hold the reset button in for 20 seconds

After 20 seconds, all the lights should flash and then go through reset

once it comes back see if you can get to the GUI

sometimes a couple of those hard resets are needed.

Dave,

What OS are you using to transfer the DD-WRT image to the router? When you reset the router, do you disconnect all the cables?

I am using Win-XP. I have tried reseting w/ and wo the cable. The router does not respond at all to the reset button, 30-30-30, or any of the other reset combos, it just keeps blinking red.

The funny part is it takes the patch just fine, the diag light flashes quickly during and after the patch, but after it auto-reboots, it goes back to the blink, blink, pause. It would seem that it must be alive to the extent that I can patch it, but the patch will not boot.

I have tried about five different versions of Brainslayer DD-WRT w/ no change.

Is there another linux OS I could try to put on the router to rewrite the boot rom?

Any ideas appreciated!

The router will not respond at all to the reset no matter how long I hold the button, all that happens is the red light keeps flashing. The only time it seems to reset is when it auto-resets after flashing.

Dave,

Sounds very similar to my first flash attempt. I purchased a FTDI FT232RQ USB to Serial UART interface and connected to the board hoping to clear the flash via serial connection. Although I could not get the serial interface to display properly, it did appear to 'clear' the data from the router. I was then able to flash the device successfully.

Interesting...

The serial route looks much simpiler than JTAG. If nothing else pops up, I guess I will give that a go.

Did you just try to flash update via serial?

Thanks,

-Dave
