Netgear RS-232

My Netgear WGR615V has a port labelled RS-232 with a sticker over it that says "warning do not use".
I tried to put a regular serial cable on it but the cable has 3 rows of pins and the router only has 2 rows of holes.

I was trying to see if it displayed anything on a console.

I dont think you have the correct serial cable.

A standard 9-pin serial cable has 2 rows of pins, 5 on top, 4 on bottom.

It almost sounds like you have a VGA cable - 3 rows of pins?
