Hi, I'm bringing back this old topic hoping to get help from GraveR or anyone else with more knowledge than me!
I could use the decrytped firmware posted by GraveR to install the Sitecom WL-342 on my RNX-EasyN4 router!
But now I would like to decrypt the original firmware of the ESR-9752 or the RNX-EasyN4. I tried first with the ESR-9752 because EnGenius also published the GPL code, but even if it seems to be decrypted, the router can't run it. It returns error "Bad Magic Number,00000000" in Putty.
So, does anyone know how I would compile a firmware from the GPL code or use the encrypted firmware to decrypt it?

My question is will this method work for the ESR9850?
I've attached the datasheet if anyone knows how to use DD-WRT on this device, or if someone is working on it. please let me know. For all others, I must say this is a far superior device as far as range goes, and I've done a fair share of research, there is hardware with better specs, but my experience has proven otherwise.
I've used at least 4 routers now, trying to get more data throughput, on the not yet ratified 802.11N standard. DLink DIR-615, ASUS RT-N16 (which boasts a 16MB flash and 128MB ram)... and a couple of Buffalo, and Netgear routers... None seem to get the range of my Linksys WRT-54GS with DD-WRT installed...
PS: I'm willing to donate $100 to the first person to come up with a fully functional flash for this beast... Been using DD-WRT for around 5 years now...
My question is will this method work for the ESR9850?
DD-WRT for the ESR-9752 will load (using serial console) and run on ESR-9850 but you will only have wireless access. The four LAN ports and WAN port will not work since the gigabit switch is not supported in the ESR-9752 build.
You can restore the original ESR-9850 firmware with a serial console and uImage for the ESR-9850.
I am not sure if any of that answered your question but until Brainslayer has time to develop a special build for the ESR-9850 we are pretty much dead in the water.

Hey everyone
Wanted to thank everyone here for their work with this router. I successfully flashed the engenius esr-9752 via the serial console. However, upon plugging it in i found that none of the LAN lights work anymore. They were working fine prior to installing DDWRT.
I thought that maybe it was just the router, however upon flashing a second ESR-9752, i foudn the same thing. No more LAN lights. Has anybody else seen this problem, or is there a fix in this forum that i somehow overlooked??

Your situation is normal for the ESR-9752 build. The LAN and WAN Leds do not work after flashing DD-WRT (actually they work until you power down the router). The actual ports work just fine.

So, im new to DD-wrt. Currently im in college, and i dont have access to all the fun stuff like serial cable and what not. Is there anyway to directly flash it onto the router. Is it possible to embed the the firmware into a DLF package and just upload it?

WL-341 v1 is afaik not based on Ralink chipset and can therefore not be supported by dd-wrt. _________________ Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!

I'm just curious if anyone has tried using an RS-232 over 8p8c modular connectors?
Does it work for this type of setup?
Fewer and fewer computers have serial and/or parallel ports these days, so if this works as a viable alternative for TTL-to-RS232 adapter set-ups it would be good to know for everyone here.
