davidgrudek, thanks for donating a rv082. I was offering a RV042 over at the other thread and later read that somebody had already donated one.

Has the failover thing ever been implemented with dd-wrt at all?

Maybe it is too much to ask for the beginning.

If they could get the basic and core functionality running with these, that would be a milestone.

We have several RV042 and RV082 (they are virtually the same) interconnected via VPN and the tunnels collapse often.

Let's hope they find the time to look at these too....

From what I have read there are some custom scripts that have gotten it to work on other routers so I believe that it should not be a problem to get it to work. These guys are good and I am sure it will work by the time they release the software oficially.

How does your tunnel fail all the time. I have had no problems with the tunnel going down. What ISP do you have? I have noticed on Comcasts network that if you change the mtu size manually to 1500 on linksys routers that the speed slightly increases and the connection seems to be more reliable.

The issue is well documented with linksys' tech (no)support.

In our case, we have 3 offices, each on a different backbone.
The tunnel collapses and does not recover for sometimes up to 15 minutes. The log is filled with reconnection attempts.
The problem seems to be with linksys' implementation of Openswan (or was it Freeswan? don't remember).

This has plagued these series of routers from day one.
With nearly each firmware release it has become more stable, but it is not really fixed.

We tried (with linksys' (no)tech (no)support instructions) many things, changing Life Times, changing modems, changing the units themselves.
Even have ATT and VZ issue new (static) IP's, nothing helped so far.

On 2 legs of the same network (one static and one dynamic) I use 2 dd-wrt routers and they are always up (have a crossite ping running all the time).

But as mentioned, they are simply too weak to handle several VPN connections.

So, after much wasted time, (what a bunch of bozos linksys' (no)tech (no)support morons are!) and having proof that it is the faulty firmware of the RV's, I really hope dd-wrt will get implemented here.

With dual or without dual WAN.

Just get it going.......PLEASE!

Has there been any development done to this rv082 or the rv042 yet? Is there something I can do to help it move faster? $$$$ or something else?

What a drag, even the dude who donated the device gets no info. Any hope at all would be nice.

davidgrudek, thanks for the donation. I too hope to see a firmware for the rv042 and 082 one day.

Sash you said in a previous post that you recieved it. I had sent it wrong and then I had to pay the $100 Germany Tax. I sent an email just now to the hardware donation email and I will wait for a response. Hopefully it is not lost.

I found this page here

http://ecos.sourceware.org/ecos/boards/ixdp425.html

That says that redboot supports Intel IXPD425 and IXP425 which is what the rv082 and rv042 is. It even comes precompiled too. I don't know what we need to do to get it on there but please let me know if there is something I can try.

I also have 2 RV082's and would be interested in installing DDWRT on them.

Do you think it will take a lot longer?
