Just to add to the dataset, my router is a 01R15. Which if the thread regarding revisions is to be believed, is the garbage revision... Although as it's the only 3700 I have experience with it's been fast enough for video streaming off my network.

This wiki Page belongs to whole Atheros.
I need optimized wifi settings for the Router itself _________________ WNDR37000v1 @ DD-WRT v24-sp2 - build 18007

Read.. and you would know what to put for that setting. Theres also the link in my sig that has the link I quoted and then some, I suggest looking at the link I posted and the WNDR3700 page with it. _________________ LATEST FIRMWARE(S)

it looks like the average throughput for the first three locations, using the 5 GHz frequency with the 40 MHz channels, is about 70 Mbps. Is anyone actually getting these speeds, or better? I can get around 60 Mbps in the same room, and the limited testing I've done in the next room usually gives me somewhere between 40-50 Mbps.
My test is simply to copy a movie from my NAS (which is NFS mounted, although I've tried the samba mount too), which is hardwired to the WNDR3700 over gigabit, and time it. This is all on a Macbook Pro (the newer unibody one).
The macbook connects at 300 Mbps.
In comparison, wired, I get around 130 Mbps, so that's my goal.
I've tweaked my settings according to the Atheros wiki: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Atheros/ath_wireless_settings. The one thing I can't quite seem to nail down are the TX & RX antenna chain settings. That wiki page says that they should be the same, 1+2, for both the RX and TX chains, but others in this thread report varying levels of success with different settings.
So far, I can't really see a pattern or consensus amongst users in this thread.
What is one striving for, in terms of those settings? In other words, what measures are you all using to determine success? I've read some say that the "Rate" (I forget the actual label) on the main status page is one indicator. Then I read another post in this thread indicating that that is never accurate. I thought I also read that a good setting is one which minimizes tx/rx errors.

Confused, if you mean antenna chains it will work on other settings but connection speed and/or range will take a hit, the third chain is not connected at all it does not exist in this router. Connection speed issue is spread randomly throughout a variety of DD-WRT routers according to users, I myself do not have this problem with my WNDR3700 or DIR-825. Many things affect connection speed such as:
-Distance
-Settings on the client itself
-Wireless encryption, WPA2 Personal-AES must be used
-Wrong chain settings
-Interference from bluetooth networks
-Clients must also be 2x2 (or 3x3), if the client is 1x2 one way (TX or RX) will be faster than the other. WNDR3700 is a 2x2 router.
Brainslayer said some routers throttle speed when bluetooth networks are detected by the router. _________________ LATEST FIRMWARE(S)

So are you saying that 1+2 should be used for both TX and RX chains?
- I'm using the proper encryption, WPA2/AES.
- I doubt there are any bluetooth networks near by, but I'll check.
- With respect to distance, I've tested in the same room and get max speeds of ~60 Mbps.
What exactly is 1x2, 2x2, and 3x3? Is there a way I can check what my client is? I'm using a pretty new Macbook pro.

Yes 1+2 for both chains both bands. 1+2+3 is for 3x3 routers which Atheros has not publicly released yet, rumor has it they will come out in Sept/Oct.
60 Mbps throughput or 60 Mbps on wireless status page (TX/RX)? You can search the model of the macbook which will then reveal the wifi card used, then search that wifi card which will reveal the chip used, then search that chip model and the specs should be listed from the manufacturer. _________________ LATEST FIRMWARE(S)

The status page reports higher, but is that accurate? Also, what exactly is that measurement on the status page? What should the value be? I notice that it tends to fluctuate when I watch it.
