I have been using 10 1/2 the whole time (although I did try auto and forced 100 full to see if that helped)

I will try again on port 1. thanks

as far as the jtag goes, on the wiki, the jtag column is blank for the wrt54 v1 , so I still do not know how to tell if it can be jtag'ed

I have JTAG'd several WRT54G v.1's with no special procedures or software. Just like the rest.

OK.

I have made some progress.

I have made a jtag cable and it appears to communicate with my router. I have also got a version of the hairydairymaid jtag utility ver 48

I have used tried the following
1) erase:nvram, then power cycle, but it didn't seem to change anything
2) backup:cfe seemed togo smoothly
3) flash:cfe with a CFE from
(http://lonewolf.hacker-nin.com/wrt/cfe/cfe.php?model=g20&use=g20)

was this what I should use?

Question When asked for a MAC at that website, I used the MAC on a sticker on the bottom of my router, as opposed to the serial # that I am guessing is ALSO a mac address. was that correct??

I still cannot tftp to the darn thing.

I would appreciate it if anyone can fill in the details of how to use this jtag cable on a wrt54g v1

thank you!

since the info here and the title no longer are appropriate, I am going to start a new thread and end this one.
