Where can I find the DD-WRT-WHR-G300N-preflash.enc -file referred to in the Wiki (http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/WHR-G300N)? _________________ At home:

I'll have mine in tomorrow (Hopefully!)
I'd suggest flashing via TFTP - taken from wiki:
The latest DD-WRT build has a new, easy, and safe way to flash a WHR-G300N router. To do this, just Tftp_flash the firmware.tftp image to 192.168.11.1 in the 1st three seconds of booting when the router is in recovery mode.
I haven't seen that pre-flash file either. _________________ Soylent Green Is People ! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Would you be kind and post your feelings in this thread after flash? _________________ At home:

Sure, I'll report as soon as I flash.
From reading up though, there's only 1 version that works currently.
Looks like the 030309 build is the only one working.
Any later builds are unstable and cause the unit to keep rebooting.
Not sure about earlier versions, but I've used the 030309 on other routers and it worked for me. _________________ Soylent Green Is People ! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Looks like 03/03/09 is still the latest build that works.
04/29/09 does not work with the router, it keeps rebooting.
Only method I was successful in flashing was TFTP method.
You gotta be quick! Couldn't flash under Vista, had to use Win XP to flash. _________________ Soylent Green Is People ! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Perhaps I try it too soonish. The only thing I doubt is that there's no way to revert it to the original os. My G300N is under AOSS now with a PSP. 8)
Edit: Can you use it as AP client now? _________________ At home:

I did it too! I couldn't find the 030309-file, but also 280209 seems to work. And right you were, one have to be quick.
For some reason, the security led is not on. Strange, that must be studied... _________________ At home:

Ok, I managed to get the 0303009-file in after 280209. At least TFTP claims the update was successful. However, I can't find the router either via web nor via ping. The leds don't flash much, the diag led flashes 3 times now and then and the rest of the leds blink only occasionally.
Is the router gone? _________________ At home:

Set a manual IP address and try again. What are the ping responses?

What do you mean by setting 'a manual IP'? To the PC? I've done that, actually it's been continuously manually assigned as long as I remember.
The ping claims that connection to 192.168.1.1 is just timed-out... _________________ At home:

That's bad. `Try note 6 of the peacock thread sticky.
Yeah. I meant a static ip on the computer. If you have that, and the pings timeout, that's not good. Power cycle during pings and see if you can get a ttl-100. Peacock thread has the process. If you can't, it's jtag time.

I dont mean to be a downer here, but I RMA'd my unit when I did the proper recovery steps after a failed flash. I tftp'd without setting a static IP, that my have bricked it.
So the whr-g300n would blink all lights when reset, then the diag and power lights would blink and do stuff.
pings at either of the default IP's of 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.11.1 resulted in nothing but the reply of mechanical failure to ping when the thing was unplugged or reset... but no pings returned. (yes, i pinged with "-t -w 5" and yes, the pc's static ip was set to match the first three sets of numbers as to what I was trying to ping)
I'm seriously considering just keeping this thing unaltered. Sad, because I bought it for buffalo's ddwrt reputation... maybe I should order an asus.

the router will never respond to pings on 192.168.11.1 but it accepts still files with tftp. the uboot bootloader network implementation is very minimal _________________ "So you tried to use the computer and it started smoking? Nope. Just 'timed-out', regardless of the time the plug being in. I'm afraid this was it, messing with Jtag is not for me. 35€ is not a bad price for this lesson though... :?
Thanks anyway. _________________ At home:
