I got a hold of a buffalo wzr-300hp in which the wireless seems to be missing.
Does anyone have a clue? _________________ I am far from a guru, I'm barely a novice. Last edited by Malachi on Thu Mar 27, 2014 12:55; edited 5 times in total

Does the following from the above posted log mean I should throw the router away?

No, i wouldn't throw it. The clue is in dd-wrt not functioning properly as noted in the svn:
http://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/3151
You are probably facing this same issue as others are. In the ticket, dun4cheap lists 23082 as working, so it may benefit you to use that for now as well. _________________Linking Routers | DD-WRT Wiki | DD-WRT Builds Last edited by buddee on Sun Mar 02, 2014 1:24; edited 1 time in total

It's the same on the buffalo friendly fw also. Not the dd-wrt buffalo branded but the other. Not sure what its called.
That ticket says the radios appear. Mine don't show at all. There is no wireless tab or page. _________________ I am far from a guru, I'm barely a novice.

Yea, no tellin then if it suffered hardware damage of any sort.
And i know its a pain in the ass, but have you serial'd this unit at all? _________________Linking Routers | DD-WRT Wiki | DD-WRT Builds

No but I can. Not a pain at all. I as waiting for you to tell me if it was even worth doing though as you are the buffalo guy around here. _________________ I am far from a guru, I'm barely a novice.

This morning when I powered it up I got a red blinking diagnostic light.
So I tftp'd the buffalo fw and the dd-wrt professional branded one.
The buffalo 1.93 downloaded from buffalo kept giving me an invalid model or something like that.
The professional _v24sp2-19438.enc would flash but not unbrick it.
I tried again but it kept saying timeout occured. So I figured something got messed up and the lan ports were now not working.
So I put a serial header on it transferred both of those files to the router over loady, did iminfo and I get a message saying "bad magic number"
These are the firmware for this router. Any clues buddee? _________________ I am far from a guru, I'm barely a novice.

The region string may have been wiped out in the process. What is it now?
In serial, in the red-diag-LED blinking state, you could try
Code: setenv region EU
saveenv
"setenv region US" could also work.
Try flashing the friendly firmware after reboot.

I did notice in the boot log in hyperterminal this line:
Starting architecture code for wzrg450.
Is that ok? _________________ I am far from a guru, I'm barely a novice.

Mainly lost for words here because i do not have this unit or anything equivalent (ie. wzr-hp-g300nh2). I have a wzr-hp-g300nh v1 which is very different than this unit.
From the sounds of it though, if you have gone thru some recovery steps here and it is still not showing wireless i would say it isn't worth it. But one of the reasons i asked if you serial'd it is because 9 times outta 10 serial will tell you exactly if its gonna recover or not. dmesg will tell you errors on the firmware lvl, imo - serial will tell you deeper errors because its not relying on any kind of OS loading to do error reporting.
So far we haven't any ideas of why its not showing wireless. Looking at the log, its as if the wl iface has no caldata, but i could be wrong, as i said, i have no exp. with this unit...
Like my wl iface initiates with these:
ieee80211 phy0: Selected rate control algorithm 'minstrel_ht'
ieee80211 phy0: Atheros AR9100 MAC/BB Rev:7 AR2133 RF Rev:a2 mem=0xb80c0000, irq=2
yours never shows that, it shows a buncha zeros which some times indicates bad caldata.. _________________Linking Routers | DD-WRT Wiki | DD-WRT Builds
