There are a few 5ghz wireless channels that do seem to be stronger then the others.
By selecting lower for control channel you get four that work decently.
Had noticed this issue on the stock firmware but it's much more noticeable now that DD-WRT is up and stable.
Transfer from laptop (wireless) to HTPC (wired): 80 Mb/second.
Transfer from same pc to same laptop: 28 Mb/second.
Doesn't matter how the transfer is conducted (FTP, Windows network, etc), the speed is always much lower going from the wired to the wireless than vice-versa.
Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas would be most appreciated.

doesn't happen to me. I am transferring wireless to wired @ 7MB/s and wired to wireless @ about the same speed.
I am using the 5ghz channel.
A bit more information as I have gotten a bit more proficient with the firmware: My connections on the 5GHz N network show (In the dd-wrt wireless status) an RX rate of 270 mbps and a TX rate of 81. Previously these were at 130 and 39. The improvement came when I forced 40MHz channels, but the channel I set is often not reflected on the status page (it is set to 165 but status shows 157, and it is actually working on 157). Playing with the channels for a while eventually got me the improved speeds but I think the problems with the 5G antenna on this router are just having their effect on me like others in the thread.
Note that at 2.4 Ghz to the channel 40 MHz speed of 98 Mbps download and 98 Mbps upload, but after some time switches to 20 MHz and speed 55-70 Mbits, please fix this in next firmware version if possible!
I think I found a solution to the 2.4ghz signal issue...
Is that a kit you bought off EBAY? or did you buy all the parts separate?
No, it wasn't a kit. Though I did buy all of the gear from the same source(2x pigtails, and 2x 9dbs antennas). My total cost shipped was $20 even, and my source was:
Can someone help me with returning my wrt400n to the factory firmware. I tried this and got in way over my head and now I am not sure how to recover it

I don't think anybody has even thought about reversion. You can try to upload the factory firmware via the GUI, but there are no guaranties. _________________ Peacock Thread-FAQ -- dd-wrt Wiki
Well Im in the same boat. I tried DDWRT just for sh*ts and giggles. Too many issues and not enough time to look into. Already tried to flash factory FW but it wont take.
Ill try a few more things to go back. If I succeed I will post how.
