Hi, from time to time some routers lose its settings and reverts to factory default.
I am now using a script which at startups checks for reversion, and reloads the parameters to nvram, if needed.
I store the script and the backup copy of the router parameters in jffs, since this memory is not affected by the reset-to-factory event.
In order to do this I modify /etc/init.d/rcS using the Firmware Mod Kit.
But unfortunately people are using many different builds and it takes time to provide customized version of them.

So the question is: does it exist a way to launch a user script at startup, without relying on nvram?

If not, could the developers modify the rcS in their builds, in order to launch something like /jffs/rc.local?
It would be a good idea to call this jffs script only when the reset button is not pressed, for a normal boot in case the jffs script screws something.

It relies on NVRAM, so we can't use it. Only ROM and jffs are safe.
