Yea I noticed but it said something about pre-sp2 build being unstable so I said no thanks.
Not, unfortunately for you, as unstable as SP1 seems to be on this router.
Okay. Your results are promising. (Pock couldn't get those ping responseses). But the work has just started.
What ever you are doing to get those ttl=100 needs to be repeated. You also have to get tftp.exe from the downloads section and get it up and running. You also need to get a 11296 NEWD_Mini build from the link in the peacock thread and get it ready. Finally, you have to read and VERY carefully follow the instructions at note 11 of the peacock thread.
Timing is critical. You have to start the upload of the firmware JUST as the pings are going to begin. This is hard because if you see a ping response, it is often too late. So you have to practice a wee bit. Expect to get it wrong and for it to take some time. Expect a bit of frustration. Put a good hour into it. If it works, report back. If it doesn't, we start again using the asus tool and the clear nvram etc. files that were discussed in pocks thread.
But first try the tftp.exe. Read, get your stuff together, and then get back with any questions. _________________ Warning: I'm "out of my element!"

Just use the basic mini build for now....you just want to get something on the router. You can switch builds later. Just use Newd_Mini.bin. I believe that Asus file is a trx file. You want a bin file. _________________ Warning: I'm "out of my element!"

OK...at this point...here is what I would do.
I would use the recovery tool from Asus to put original Asus firmware back on the unit...make sure it loads and is working properly before proceeding.
Then...do a hard reset on the unit...remembering to power cycle after you hold the restore button that last 30 seconds.
When it boots up...load the .trx file of mini_asus for to that unit....hard reset again after 5 minutes.
[EDIT] - BTW...you need to use the Asus recovery program to load this mini_asus.trx file also.
Now upgrade to any .bin file you wish....using dd-wrt web gui.
I think we need to get the original Asus back on it first though...something is not getting set/reset properly at this point.
If you get even one ping....it should accept a flash....it is all a matter of timing.

The Asus recovery tool on the CD?
Let me get this straight.
You want me to plug in router in restore mode and right when I get that first ping upload mini_asus.trx using asus recovery tool?
Btw what dd wrt firmware do recommend after I get it working?
I did the mega because I want all the features but that version did not go so well.
We still recommend the 11296 build for firmware....any NEWD will do...AFTER you initially install the mini_asus.trx file.

No I used Tfpd to install it the first time using that wiki.
Tftpd can't upload .trx files can it?
I believe it can...the CFE will determine what it will and won't accept.
[EDIT] - BTW...that restoration utility does more than just flash firmware....it clears out the flash partitions too (not CFE of course)...I highly recommend flashing Asus unit with the Restoration utility from Asus.

For clarification, I was suggesting giving tftp a try with the firmware first, as you had dd-wrt on the router already. If that didn't work, try the asus tool. Redhawk has suggested trying the asus tool first (and a very good idea to go back to stock firmware first).
You definitely want to try both asus and tftp IF the first one you try doesn't work. The order you try in is a matter of choice. I don't want you to get confused and think you are getting conflicting advice. (And if in doubt, listen to Redhawk.) _________________ Warning: I'm "out of my element!"
